Stream of consciousness, anyone? Stephen King's "The Stand" makes me think of Robert McCammon's "Swan Song," also about survivors. If I remember correctly, "The Stand" was about an illness, right? Swan Song is about the survivors after nuclear war.

Left Behind on 60 Minutes
Did anyone see the story 60 Minutes did last night on the Left Behind series? I haven't read the books, but I know some people on this forum really enjoy them.
For anyone who missed it, the story was about the authors of the books and the following the series has...
I'm planning a trip to New York the first week of may, and when I looked at the telecharge website for tickets to Little Shop they're only on sale through April 25. Does anyone know if the show is closing? Supposedly the run is open-ended.
When I went to England I had a hard time understanding some people, and I felt incredibly stupid! It wasn't just the British English speakers, but all of the varying nationalities who learned English as a second language. I live in Southern California, and I always thought I was pretty patient...
People who want their children to be stupid.
Get ready for a big time rant here:
Did did anyone read the article on CNN.com yesterday about the school superintendent in Georgia who wants to replace the word "evolution" in the science curriculum with the term "biological changes over time?"...
Van Helsing and King Arthur
www.aintitcoolnews.com has a link to a full screen trailer for Van Helsing. It looks like a kick-butt movie, but I'm sure the purists will have all kinds of problems with it.
King Arthur also looks pretty good. Keira Knightley is playing Guenivere, and it looks...
"Deception Point" was really good. I like that he uses women as central characters and tells parts of story from their point of view. It's hard to find adventure type storys with women who aren't just accessories to the men.
I loved "Chocolate" also. I thought the book was better than the...
That's interesting. I just wondered since they come from such a large family if they sort of carried on the tradition. Most people I know with a lot of siblings swear they won't have so many kids.

They have to stay competetive in the marketplace, and after Yoda turned into a CGI and LOTR was so successful with Gollum, it seems obvious that this is the next great thing in movie magic. I wish them the best of luck!

I read "The Nanny Diaries" and I have to say I didn't like it very much. It was just too sad. I used to be a pre-school teacher, so I could relate to a certain point, but I kinda wanted to just shake those characters and tell them to get a grip! Maybe that was the intention....
A similar...
I just read Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" and I loved it! It was a great adventure with several interesting twists and the author obviously spent a great deal of time doing his research.
The plot is about an attempt to blow up the Vatican. The story features the same character as the...
I too, was an English major, and am considering going for my MA (if I can just win that lotto!) but I have to say most of my classes had quite a bit of variety. I even had to read Harry Potter for a class. It was a children's lit class, but instead of sticking only to the older "classics" we...
Isn't it interesting how the news can color your impression of something that is supposed to be entertaining? A couple of years ago there was a ton of news coverage here about young women being kidnapped and/or murdered. At the same time the theater where I ushered had Phantom of the Opera up...
Waiting for opinions
Has anyone seen Peter Pan yet? Or Neve Campbell's new movie about the ballet company? I think it's called "The Company." Its in limited release, but it looks like it might be good for those of us interested in that type of thing...
