I feel the same way; Jim died two months after I was born, and the thought of never getting to meet the man who helped me so much as a kid, and continues to do so... is very hard to acknowledge. But I consider myself lucky for growing up in a world where I'm able to look back on his life and...
"Zohan" is actually not awful. I feel like it's Adam Sandler's best Adam Sandler movie in years (this is discounting his unusual dramatic fare like "Punch-Drunk Love", "Spanglish", and "Reign Over Me", all of which he's wonderful in). It's still really, really stupid. But it entertains.
I am...
Efron is actually a very talented guy, and he was one of the many highlights of "Hairspray"... plus he's doing a movie with Richard Linklater! Not my first pick but far from being on my skip list.
So I figure we can use a thread to discuss the movies we've seen this year. I will tell you that I spend a lot of my time at local film festivals and traveling the state for stuff I think I may wanna see, and that's actually how I saw most of the movies in my top category. It's been a good year...
I LOVE the idea of Robert Downey Jr. showing up in a Muppet movie.
I don't know if anyone's mentioned Dakota Fanning. I had a dream where she and Pepe got into a slap fight. She's allowed to be in the movie if that happens.
Finished watching "The Ice Harvest" about an hour ago... still not sure how I felt about it. With this movie, I'm not really sure what the point was, and I'm all for pointless movies... when the lack of a point is made up for by being fun. And most of this movie is fun, so I think I do like it...
Three years later, my attitude on this movie is still pretty much the same. I enjoyed it a lot. Some moments felt genuinely Muppet-y to me; others do not. I do think all the characters are utilized well, particularly Miss Piggy and Pepe, who has more than earned his place alongside the classic...
I imagine Angelina Jolie, should she be cast in the film, will be just as much the "star" as Charles Durning was in "The Muppet Movie", if it is indeed more than a cameo.
I'm actually very excited about this! I haven't had the opportunity yet to see Abby at all, so this is as good a time as any. I'm kinda sad Big Bird is nowhere to be found, but I'm really looking forward to the Countapillar!
My trepidations are eased a bit... reading about what Edwards has to say really did make me feel better about the project. I don't think Edwards is the ideal choice to write or direct, but he has his heart in the right place.
But... action scenes? What KIND of action scenes? And who will do...
What I wanted was an Indy movie.
What I got was an Indy movie, and that's quite enough for me.
Meanwhile, I like that aliens are too hard for people to believe but mystically powerful Jewish zombie wine cups are okay.
