My 14 year old sister likes the show (to the point she has a plush wembley and a FR Xmas shirt) but only as a "thing" because it's "cute"; unlike the majority of fans here. She has no interest in the inherent meaning of the episodes/characters/cast or production or anything like that. Most...
What he said.
If done right it could become like Rocky Horror - a film that's been constantly screening (therefore earning royalties) for more than 30 years. It would be a great way to get Henson out there and generate both buzz and needed income.
It's not half bad - it offers quite a bit of character depth in a lot of ways, and I think the grouch humour is rather fantastic. I mean, eschewing the obvious (brilliant) puppetry element, of course.
Hah! Peter Rowsthorn was great casting. I appreciate the fact something not only indie with high production values but puppetry is coming from Australia (And the Frenzal linked in the related videos, that was a right laugh)
I'm taking a page out of Julian Koster
Julian Koster's book and going Caroling with my Musical Saw this year. My favourite part is both the decorations and lights, stuff like that, and the food. Aside from the excuses to wear ridiculous shirts, hats, jumpers and earrings, the food is what really...
I am a big, big fan of the show - the un-pc and risque humour is definately my thing and I'm actually quite suprised to see some cast members on the forums here. The puppets themselves are fantastic and I am enjoying the evolution of the show in it's 2nd season. My Australian-ness pays off in...
I use felt, it means that I can buy it by the metre and save money than if I were to buy smaller individual sheets of felt and something else for the backside of the mouthplate (where the hand goes).
Heh, I remember being younger and wondering why puppets always had rods, never was able to put 2 and 2 together. I figured that all puppets worked akin to hand puppets.
Brilliant! I can't wait to see the fina l product and I am rather annoyed I'm skint and will be for the next month or so so I can't donate. I'm sure I'm speaking on behalf of a lot of pople here when I say I'm excited about this.
To save on the head/body buisness, would it be possible to instead mount the body to the head via hooks or some such thing and have the head separately manipulated - this way, when the time comes that the whole cat is no longer needed, the head can be quickly detached and used as a stand-alone...
Do you have a budget in mind? The quality of materials significantly impacts how well made a puppet looks in the end, and combined with labor costs for a labour intesive thing like puppet building means commissions don't come cheap.
I already knew about the two pieces of music - they're fantastic. Interesting info about where it was filmed. I always loved this clip, it seemed so fascinatingto me as a kid - I also love the whole look of the clip too, something about they way it was shot/lit.
