Actually in the last ten years, the number of telemarketers that called my cellphone, I can count on one hand and have fingers to spare.
Pop ups in my email box, that's another story.
But in the telemarketing days, I think of some poor schmoe making minimum wage, reading from a script, knowing...
I haven't been hassled by telemarketers since I ditched my landline. But it used to be fun, and a challenge some time, to get them so uncomfortable THEY hang up on YOU!
Sometimes I'd listen to their sales pitch, whatever crap they were trying to sell, and interrupt them,
"Do you own this...
Yvonne DeCarlo was actually a year older than Al Lewis. But under all the make-up, and black-and-white images, you'd never know.
But during the show's run, both Herman and Lily called him "Grandpa", not just Eddie.
It just occurred to me, concerning the Addams Family:
Lurch is not a member of the family, he's only the butler.
But the employment agency that referred him to the family did a bang-up job!
Got it. Loved watching Bob Ross. Loved LISTENING to him. "Let's put in some happy little clouds...and a big ol'tree!"
His voice is like sonic candy.
Three brushes, a handful of colors, thirty minutes, and he pulls off a masterpiece.
This is surprising but it's true. Three years ago, I had valve replacement surgery on my heart. One of my valves wouldn't close all the way, and if it didn't get fixed, I might've died.
So I'm alive today.... because of a pig's valve.
Thank you, pigs are decent people.
At least one generation has grown up and probably never used a typewriter.
Sure, you can type on your PC and see your results on the screen, but I'm talking about threading the paper in, setting your margins, making sure your ribbon has enough ink on it, and THEN you start typing.
Once upon a...
Change is never easy, but it's the one constant on life. It's hard to pull up roots, I know, been there, done that. But if you do move to Colorado with your folks, in time other people will enter your life, you'll have a new routine, and the change won't seem so bad. You'll be fine, it just...
I never got a whatnot, but I still have my long hair. Going gray, but it's still there. Miss the days when it was halfway down my back. Now it touches my shoulders.

I remember seeing him on Sesame way back when. Dressed in a snazzy tux, I instantly recognized him as Gomer Pyle, which was still on the air (although very near the end of its run).
He sang the alphabet, and not many people know what a deep, rich, operatic voice he had. His baritone plunged...
It's easy to think that. I was around wen Culture Club was brand-spanking new, and Boy George was a cultural (pardon the pun) icon. But now, just as then, many people would be hard-pressed to name the rest of the band.
And for Phil Collins' role in Genesis (btw, before he landed his Genesis...
For a lot of places in this country, driving is a necessary evil. There are crazy people on the road, accidents happen every day, traffic jams, road rage, speeders, yeah, it's all there.
But it's not just about learning to drive, it's about overcoming your fear of driving.
The worst two words...
You have two choices.
1) At some point you face up to your fear and learn how to drive or at least TRY IN SPITE OF YOUR FEARS or
2) You settle for a very mediocre life.
Your parents aren't going to be around forever to drive you, and at some point in your life you'll have to take a stand on...
