"Mickey is happy. Kermit is happy. Miss Piggy is happy. And Jim Henson appears to be pretty happy about the deal too."
Oh man, oh man, oh man. If only things had kept going in the direction they were going. This makes me miss what might have been SO MUCH!
Thanks for typing up the article...
Excellent question. If I understand right, Lucas owns the rights to all the Star Wars movies EXCEPT the original. Since he wasn't much of anybody in 1977, 20th Century Fox produced the original Star Wars. Since Lucas was sick of all the studio interference, he founded Lucasfilm with the money...
Disney's two Muppet films WERE released pan-and-scan. But they also have great commentary by Brian Henson. The three classic Muppet films are available in both format on the same disc(s) respectively, but no commentary. It seems like no matter who owns them, there's good and bad involved.
Umm, no, we're still not communicating. I'm sure it's due to my lack of DVD/technical knowledge.
The point is not: "Why do I need to set up my DVD player to show widescreen all the time?" because I don't. The point is: "If I can just press a button on my player and choose whether to watch...
Good point, King Prawn. The menu "scenes" probably take place in the present day. That would explain the Emperor. I also agree, though, that I'd prefer a classic character like Belle, Beast, or the Genie as opposed to such a new character.
I understood that this wasn't a scene added to the...
Sorry I wasn't clear about my Labyrinth disc, Alex. I meant the options on the player, not the disc. My point is, I changed my preferences with a click of a button. Why can't it always be like this?
Good point, Alex. I wasn't aware of this. Of course, they OUGHT to make the players like this...but again, I suppose that would cut into them selling multiple copies of the discs.
Good call, Quinn. I think the Steve Whitmire dubbing idea is the best way to illustrate the problem here.
Interestingly enough, the scream was in the comic-book adaptation. So I didn't even realize it hadn't been there, or that it had been added, till someone pointed it out to me.
Jamie...
I agree, I actually like where Droopy ended up in the movie better. But it's fun to see what might have been.
I'd love to get my hands on early drafts of Muppet scripts...
I just found a third draft of the script on Drew's Script-O-Rama (www.script-o-rama.com). Ahh, I love the Internet. :D
I don't know if it's the same one you read, but I just read a scene where Droopy came out on stage to introduce Jessica, and I know THAT wasn't in the movie!
And as...
I already voted when someone posted this on a Firefly discussion board. Thanks for spreading the word, Greedo.
I don't mind all the little background stuff. What I miss are the original songs from "Jedi" (infinitely superior to the later ones). Greedo firing first is stupid, doesn't make...
I hate it when they don't allow you to skip the intro. What's the point? If the person's trying to get past it, they're not going to be entertained if you force them to stay there. Scooby-Doo is a disc like that. OK, the opening was cute ONCE, but every time I restarted over the course of two...
"I remember an interview where Zemekis remarked about the use of Woody. I know he wasn't the right version for the period."
Perhaps they used a later *style* for Woody, if that's what you mean. I don't doubt they might have used a later model sheet that they liked better. But the *character*...
Yep, it was unsatisfying, particularly after Scorpius has been so built up as the Darth Vader of the Farscape world. He deserved a more interesting ending. But that's what happens when you don't get the extra year of your contract that your network promised to you.
Emmy: Isn't that the worst...
Wow, this thread is 9 pages long, Foz. I guess it's pretty successful!!
I respect Sparky's decision not to have anyone else mess with his vision, but I just can't watch specials that are nothing more than recycled strips. I've read them all too many times before. I'd like to see someone take...
Woo-hoo! I am so looking forward to this. One of my favorite movies finally getting the prestige treatment. This is a must-have (as soon as I get some money!).
I'm slightly disappointed they don't have the original documentary that aired on CBS at the time, "Roger Rabbit and the Secrets of...
Wow, this is weird. I finally cave in slightly to Luke's pro-Disney stance, and he takes the OPPOSITE side of the debate! LOL!
Disney probably isn't going to be all that great for the Muppets, but I still don't know who else there is. Valentine dropped out a couple of weeks ago; I don't know...
Gymkata! ROTFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just learned about that wonderfully cheesy 80's movie a couple of months ago.
Let's ask President Bush to send a bunch of our Olympic gymnasts to fight over in Parmistan. ;) :p
