On “Puzzle Place”, Peter plated an Apache Indian named Skye. Looks and sounds a lot like Walter.
Funny thing, when “Puzzle Place” was on in 1995, I was 27. Not exactly the targeted age to-be watching. But I stumbled on the show, and thought his character was neat.
Then there was an episode...
I first became aware of Peter Linz back in 1995 with “The Puzzle Place”.
And his career was just beginning. Wonderful guy, and only a year older than me.
I know it’s rough. I moved out when I was 19 because I couldn’t stand my father and his drinking. And once I went a whole year without talking to him.
But staying mad at my dad didn’t do me any good, and staying mad at your folks won’t help you either.
If you can move out, and put a little...
I was fortunate to get a Lionel beanie. That was a huge craze with beanies in the late 90s. People went nuts over them, their value skyrocketed, but then the market dropped out. These things that once were supposed to finance your college education, now you can’t even give them away.
Ziggy Marley (who sang Arthur’s theme song) did appear on Sesame Street.
Binky and the curly-haired cat were dead ringers for Horace and Wimzie on “Wimzie’s House”.
Actually my public library has a giant Theo lying on top of a shelf in the children’s section. Not a puppet, but a big stuffed doll. Down to the last detail, he has glasses, and part of his mane braided into cornrows.
As far as the puppets go, unfortunately they weren’t meant to last forever. They weren’t meant to be museum pieces. Fleece, foam rubber, materials like that do decay over time.
Plastic takes a little longer.
Even Jim didn’t take good care of them. Once Ernie was on the floor, and he got kicked...
I’m not sure about that, but an old Oscar (not the orange one) lives in the Smithsonian. There’s a display with a few other 70s artifacts, including Fonzie’s leather jacket, Mr. Rogers’ sweater, and Archie and Edith Bunker’s chairs.
Well, by the time Teletubbies came out, I was far too old to be part part of its targeted demographic. Stylistically the colors were nice, but intellectually there was nothing for me to hang my hat on.
I was far too old for Barney too. But compared to Sesame, Barney just seemed contrived...
I wonder if the 90s generation (probably most of you) have any fond memories of Barney. In 1990 when Jim died and Barney began, I thought Sesame Street was finished. People my age, who grew up with Sesame, HATED Barney like you can’t believe. Because the spirit that made Sesame so special wasn’t...
A lot of slang words have come and gone, so many never really stuck with me.
Around 2000 (remember, kids?” Everyone went around going “WHAZZUPPP!!!” I seriously doubt any one would still use that today.
Back in my high school/college days, in the second half of the 80s, big words then sound so...
I would rather have one true friend who will stick with me through thick and thin than ten thousand on Facebook.
That does suck when people unfriendly you regardless of the reason (back in the early days of Facebook, one classmate I knew since third grade friended/Iunfriended me just to get...
The way things stand right now, Bernie is slightly ahead of the pack, with Mayor Pete and Bloomberg about tied. Biden and Warren trailing. Nine months to go, everything’s still up for grabs.
Just posted on YouTube: from Sesame Street season 1, Green Grover (or is he brown?) demonstrating near and far. But what blows my mind is he’s done by Jim, not Frank.
During the first season there was some shuffling of monsters on various people’s hands. (caroll Spinney even performed Cookie and...
Great evenly matched game. It gets boring after a while if a team wins 40-0. Until the third quarter, there were very few turnovers, but even suffering two interceptions towards the end, the Chiefs still pulled it out.
someone I was watching the game with predicted whoever won the toss would...
