I think that Telly is a foam head just to give the head shape and then covered with a very large piece of fur. I think that constructing a 1/2 inch skull out of sheet would be the best.
If you are using Rit dye, your best bet is to just follow the instructions on the back of the bottle (I recommend the liquid, the powder sometimes doesn't 100% dissolve and it gets stuck in the fibers of the fleece), because changing the amounts of dye to water can change the final color. If you...
Carving a nose out of a block of foam is sometimes time consuming but looks extremely good in the end. To do it, first determine how large and what shape you want your nose to be. Draw the shape onto a piece of foam. Cut a block of foam out around the shape. You can use an electric knife to cut...
I've tried using floral spray and regular spray a couple of different times before but then after you squish it down after a few times the paint starts to crack. I think I am going to go about doing it by using very hot water with the dye in it and letting it sit for like a 1/2 hour like you...
Has anyone dyed foam here before? I have to make an ice cream sundae that can be squished down and I wanted to try this.
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks

100% percent agree with you about the logo. From what I've heard, the figures can't be too complex w/too many colors because they are painted on by a machine. The more colors and more advanced the design, the more likely a smudge or error is to occur in the process of being painted.

I have been carving my puppets out of foam for a long time now so I think that I can help you.
No, there is no standard head size to carve. My advice is make something that is going to be manageable. Often if the head is too big it is also heavy, and is uncomfortable to hold up for more than...
