    The "You know what?" thread

I will say that non-disco music from the 70s perhaps has one of the most instantly recognizable and distinct sounds from other genres and subgenres of music . . . most 70s music seem to have a lot of stringed instruments (violins and violas) providing the underscoring, while the melody is often...

Caroll Spinney Being Honored by Puppets for Puppetry

Matt Vogel posted about this on Facebook this morning, but in May, Puppets for Puppetry will be having a special honor for Caroll Spinney, co-sponsored by the Jim Henson Company and Sesame Workshop, and benefitting the Center for Puppetry Arts. Great to see Caroll receive the recognition he...

    The "You know what?" thread

There's always going to be genres of music that some people consider to be "non-music," and I suppose if you grew up with rock and roll when it was new, that disco would seem like such "non-music." Kind of like how some would argue rap and hip-hop are "non-music."

The Saddest thing that reminds you that you're old...

After talking about disco and other fashions of decades past, I recently came to notice something. . . . It seems like almost every decade, or I suppose more specifically, generation, has its share of those who bucked and rebeled against establishment, or were otherwise considered "punks," and...

    The "You know what?" thread

Yes, I know, my mom always tells me how miserable she was during the 70s because she hated everything about disco: the music, the fashion, everything. Rock and roll was coming into vogue when she was a kid, so as far as she was concerned, disco was essentially anti-music. I personally don't...

"WHOAH!" - What Surprised You Today Thread?

I think the closest thing we have to a thread like this is the "What Scared You Today?" thread, which isn't necessarily the same thing.

Stephanie D'Abruzzo responds about Caroll Spinney

Will somebody please inform Jim Henson's New York Creature Shop that Big Bird's head is way too big now?

The "I Saw Something REALLY Weird Today" Thread

It sounds like Elmo is being . . . physically attacked in a way no one should be. . . . :skeptical:

    My Kermit Puppet build (2017)

Looks great! Can you enlighten me? What exactly is styrene, and how does it compare to gasket rubber? Is it better, worse, about the same? Does adhesive apply to it well? I know that's one problem I've had in the past with trying to fabricate a gasket rubber mouthplate, is that the fabric would...

What made you roll your eyes today thread?

I disagree, YouTube comments have been a big source of side-splitting laughs for me.

    Questions about anything

I will say, I'm happy to see it appears they went back to filtering notifications in chronological order, as opposed to randomizing them into what they feel is "more important" to you - it was becoming a drag to have to scroll through older notifications to find new ones.

    Questions about anything

So whenever you login to Facebook, at the top right of your newsfeed above trending topics, there's this widget for "Stories" that always has a randomization of any of your friends in it. What's that all about?

    Muppets YouTube Red Series idea

Slightly off-topic, but as I've said many times before, I've often thought it would be interesting to see certain YouTubers or other internet celebrities on SS . . . I mean, they had Pentatonix and Fifth Harmony in recent years, why not others? I'd love to see Lindsey Stirling dancing and...

The... -wait fer it-... "What made you laugh today?" Thread

While listening to the radio tonight, someone called in a requested "Jive Talkin'" by the BeeGees, to which the DJ said, "Just remember to keep all jive talkin' to a minimum, because otherwise you'll end up becoming a politician, and then it's not longer 'jive talkin'," it's 'alternative facts.'"

    Muppets YouTube Red Series idea

Why can't they just upload the show to their regular YouTube channel? Or better yet, why can't they do a show with actual Muppet writers and director?
