I think you nailed it, it was lowest common denominator humor.
I think you can say that for dialect comedians in Vaudeville. That wasn't so bad because everybody got made fun of, lol. Sort of like shows like South Park today where no one is spared. And it reflected the changing society with...
I did no such thing, I just didn't think it was fair that the more skeptical people were getting targeted so much. They have as much right to their opinion as you do.
But I promised another user I'd drop it before the movie comes out, so I am. Hope this clears things up. :)
I think it's definitely important to keep in mind that your first attempt to put your ideas in writing is usually not going to be the best. You have to write it all out once, then go back and edit and rethink and eventually it becomes the work you wanted it to be.
And I'm reminded of a phrase...
Lol, that reminds me of the first time I showed my friend Hey, Cinderella! When the (human) prince came up to the (Muppet) king and says, "Oh Dad!" My friend was like, "Ummm....how is that possible?" Lol
That would be nice. Instead of only the skeptical people being told they're wrong. ;)
I mean at this point I'm almost afraid to end up liking the movie because this attitude of conformity doesn't sit well with me, hehe.
Just kidding of course...slightly, lol.
The way I see it, the Muppet Show characters all have some kind of hang up or insecurity that's at the root of their em, heh, "insanity." Once Kermit got comfortable giving Scooter more responsibility, Scooter's hang up was gone. Fozzie's hang up (telling bad jokes) was much harder to cure, lol.
Oh yeah I agree Scooter got better over time, lol. That's what's interesting about him actually, he's been on both sides of the asylum so to speak, lol. ;)
I like how they say the girlfriend is fine with Walter coming.
I mean can you imagine that conversation? "Hey honey, mind if my puppet friend comes with us?" Lol
