New outfit aside, the Abby puppet in general looks a little different this year as well. I noticed her hair doesn't seem to be quite a 2-toned as it's previously been, and her little freckles look darker and bigger too.
It's not the fluffiness that bothers me so much . . . it's the hyper-realistic eyes. Maybe if they were a tad more cartoonish, they wouldn't look so creepy.
But other than that, Ryan Reynolds seems to have become the male Amy Adams: started out doing nothing but indie and low-budget movies, now...
I also couldn't help but notice the Ernie puppet used in this special was very reminiscent of Johnny T.'s Ernie puppet from the second season of PWMS, in that the puppet has one crooked ear.
Not to mention, like a lot of Frank's characters, the voice was basically a variation of Bert, which makes inserts with his Lefty feel like Bert is getting back at Ernie for all the times he's driven him crazy. Caroll's voice, while not perfect, sounded more convincing as a shifty shyster. Plus...
I had a haircut appointment today that I had to reschedule, because as it turns out, my mom has a doctor's appointment today at the same time, and she'll need her car, meanwhile my dad's car has a flat tire that we can't replace at the moment.
Oh well. Least I can hold onto my blondefro for...
Yes! That was so frustrating how Courage was reduced to almost always babbling incoherently, and whatever dialogue he did have in those seasons were exclusively button one-liners, or stock aside comments ("The things I do for love"). I mean, he's the main character, it's his show, it seems like...
Honestly, even the Grinch himself seems "meh" about his latest remake.
I mean seriously, based on trailers, the Grinch hardly seems like the Grinch at all . . . he's really not sinister or menacing or anything (heck, even Jim Carrey made him seem like a maniacal psychopath), he seems so...
Have there been any other BTF episode since? I know Matt said the scheduling for BTF was going to be a little inconsistent this year, and so far, I don't recall seeing any notifications for any further episodes since the Caroll Spinney tribute.
GEORGE: What is Holland?
JERRY: What do you mean what is it? It's a country, right next to Belgium.
GEORGE: No, that's The Netherlands.
JERRY: Holland is The Netherlands.
GEORGE: Then who are the Dutch?
One last fun little detail I appreciated was when we see Ernie shooting Bert giving a weather report in their apartment, with an old and outdated videotape camcorder connected to their TV; brought back memories of when I used to shoot stuff with such a camcorder a decade and longer ago.
