Well they're critics; it's not their job to run a fansite. It's their job to give their honest opinion. They can't refrain from giving opinions just because it would hurt an actor's feelings. If all their reviews were all always positive it would just be Stepford.
I think bringing in new characters is often a successful idea. It worked with Tiny Toones and Star Trek: TNG. But it worked because the writing was top notch (Well at least after TNG got past the first season, hehe).
I always said I don't think they meant it as an insult. One of them even said he just wasn't great at building up things. Thing is, historically the Muppets have been portrayed and described as mad, crazy, nuts, in a good way. And that's very different from saying the characters are stupid.

I don't feel like they're phasing Gonzo out in particular, at least no more than the other characters. It's more that the writers seem fine writing for Kermit, Piggy and the new characters (Walter, Constantine), but when it comes to the other supporting characters for some reason they're not as...
I get the feeling when people say they wanted the same emotion as TM it's just another way of saying they didn't identify with the characters and their plight this time.
Well on the contrary, I'm sure their intention was to get some extra credit with international audiences. I'm surprised they didn't stop in China, lol.
Just want to make it clear, MMW definitely didn't need to be all sappy for me to like it, lol. MCC was pretty sappy and that never grabbed me. GMC was probably the least sentimental of the original films and I love that. Like I said for me I just thought MMW's plot didn't reach high enough for a...
