The new What Made You Smile Today thread

She made a surprise visit to my middle school in 2000 when I was in sixth grade, and I later learned she was on something of a tour, going around to various schools to talk about the importance of education, as well as the impact television has had on advancing education for young children (a la...

    The Kid Cosmic Thread

"A loving homage to yesteryear's comics"? That's literally what Chris Savino was going for with TLH. I will say this though, that title character looks almost exactly like Paul Williams as depicted in that Dexter episode "Just An Old Fashioned Lab Song."

    The "You know what?" thread

Well, I mean, it's not like we performed the play openly to the public or anything, it was just basically for the club, faculty, and parents. I ended up playing an extra in the play: I was one of the Christians who were meeting secretly to gather together for worship, only to be detained and...

    What made you think today?

I was getting ready to say you seem strangely and specifically knowledgable about the stuff yourself, lol.

    What made you think today?

The only thing I'm aware of that's refered to as "Mary Jane" are those little black shoes with the buckled straps that little girls wear.

    What made you think today?

If there ever was one thing I found odd about M*A*S*H was that apparently Colonel Potter wasn't an early riser . . . I guess there are some exceptions to the rule, but it seems like almost everybody in his age group are always up at the crack of dawn and think nothing of it . . . and with him...

    The "You know what?" thread

Getting back to the topic of THE GREAT GATSBY, I guess I can understand why it apparently was never part of my required reading during my high school years: if this is a book that's full of debauchery, as seems to be the case, then I suppose I can see this being disconcerting with home schooling...

    Classic Sesame Clips on YouTube

I don't know, I remember this from my childhood, and honestly, it never really bothered me that much.

    What made you think today?

https://getpocket.com/explore/item/if-you-love-staying-up-late-and-sleeping-in-doing-otherwise-might-actually-hurt-your-health I mean, I have been trying to make an effort to not stay up as late as I end up doing at night (and not doing a good job of it at all, mind you), but again, I really am...

    The "You know what?" thread

We worked our way up, starting with an earthworm, then we did a crawdad (or crayfish, or however you like to call it), then a perch, then yes, a frog. I remember when we did the crawdid/crayfish, our teacher informed us that at least one of them was carrying eggs, and as it so happens, I was in...

    The "You know what?" thread

This is pretty much me right here. Chemistry almost killed me because of all those formulas and equations that had to be figured out and solved, but any other science course was right up my alley . . . I didn't think I would be able to handle dissecting animals in Biology, but I did surprisingly...

    The "You know what?" thread

Math was always my worst subject, all throughout my school years . . . even though my parents were understanding of that, they did not tolerate anything lower than a C on my report card regardless of the subject, so it was a miracle I could stay within that grading range in math, because if I...

    The "You know what?" thread

I kind of understand the unfortunate stigmas that have been applied to homeschooling in recent years, because, yes, the curriculum in homeschooling is very much faith-based compared to public school. World History wasn't about Colombus sailing the ocean blue in 1492, or the American Revolution...

The New What Made You Frown Today Thread

I don't blindly hate Trump, there are legitimate reasons to hate Trump, just about all of which I have mentioned throughout our politics thread, which I won't drudge up here, since this isn't the thread for that (nor am I going to question how he's even helped small businesses thrive, because...

    The "You know what?" thread

Are GoPro's even a thing anymore, or were they just a fad? Because honestly, I seldom see or hear people talk about or even use them anymore, and haven't for a while. I have one, but maybe only used it a couple of times at most.

    The "You know what?" thread

After four weeks of public high school, yes. But, I still had to attend actual classes, so not every subject was something I did at home . . . subjects like math, science, and certain electives (Flash animation, for example), I had to attend classes for.

    The "You know what?" thread

I was homeschooled during my high school years, but I mean, these books were still required reading by the education system . . . not sure why THE GREAT GATSBY wasn't included, but I mean, all of those other books, yep.

    The "You know what?" thread

My high school years were from 2003 to 2007.
