This is why I refused to read The Simpsons Movie spoilers 4 years ago (has it been that long already?). I wanted to be completely surprised walking into the theater and not know a thing. Of course, that's harder with this movie but I can still be surprised by certain things.
This first film was terrific. Far from my favorite animated movie but when you look back at everything else that came out at the time, and what we've later received, it stands out as a great movie.
The sequel pretty much could have just been called "Ice Age 2: The Search For More Money"...
LOL. It's really not that bad, I was just a bit surprised considering the massive positive critical reception so far that Disney wasn't trying to shoot for any Oscar noms, but now that obviously was false.

So today I just found Disney's "For Your Consideration" page for the 2012 Oscars. All the movies you'd expect Disney to try to get nominations for are there. Cars 2 (seriously?), Gnomeo and Juliet (I completely forgot that movie!), the short that will be...
I'm sure at least Muppet Christmas Carol will air on The Hub again this year multiple times. But yeah, it's a bit discouraging they aren't airing on Disney's flagship Christmas programming block.
I'll have to find out what this is! :)
Oh, and I'll say right now, Disney is missing a very good opportunity to air some Muppet Christmas specials this year. :smirk:
Well in 1993, Rechov Sumsum was long gone and it had been over two years since the end of Shalom Sesame, but I digress. (besides, from what I've seen, it doesn't seem like the Plaza Sesamo puppeteers know very much English)
That said, I loved this special as a boy as well. And I've got to say...
Don't forget The King's Speech which just happened to win Best Picture this year and, if my facts are correct, is Weinstein's highest-grossing film ever. I swear, in the theater back in January when I saw their logo not realizing the movie was released by them, I felt like facepalming right in...
Admittedly, I did trick myself into liking Disney's Doug as a kid and went to go see this nonsense in theaters even if I don't remember the actual movie, I just remember there was a Donald Duck cartoon before the movie... but yeah, bear in mind Doug has a long history with being tortured thanks...
I recall someone at Henson saying a few years ago that if any Fraggle puppet besides Red gets re-built, it would be Uncle Matt. Why they haven't done that yet? I don't know.
I couldn't have said it better myself. It's been 6 years since the project was first announced for heaven's sake.
While I will say that this movie has more of a chance of happening under Regency than it did under Weinstein, I still refuse to get my hopes up.
