Yeah, I wish Fox would put out the stand-alone episodes in a separate box set. That's something I would definitely buy. They already have three or four sets to the whole conspiracy arc. It would be nice to have the monster of the week shows all together.
Actually, the X-Files season sets...
(at the mention of MST3K, Leach suddenly reacts just as Popeye reacts when he downs a can of spinach; Leach parries the air more confidently with his mighty spatula)
HIKEEBA ! ! ! !
Pee-wee Herman IS Gladiator!
(as Elmer Fudd, in reaction to Claudia's costume): Shhhhh...I'm hunting...
The Mads actually appear in every host segment of Fu Manchu, gloating and toasting their success with the experiment. It's definitely Frank, though.
On the other hand we must give props to Josh Weinstein, a.k.a. season 1's Dr. Earhardt. He's the one who discovered a little-known talent named...
The show opens with an energetic, marching band number, sung by Joel and the 'Bots, complete with confetti and streamers.
I agree, Count, the Shriner flying carpet sketch is probably the most memorable thing about this ep.
Another host segment has Joel trying to comfort the shaken 'Bots by...
Yeah, The Castle of Fu Manchu is a dreadful movie, directed by the infamous Jess Franco. I think Christopher Lee starred in five Fu movies between 1965-1969. Franco directed the last two, and they are easily the worst in the series. Even the MST3K guys can't do much with it. To me, this is...
Gaaaah! It ain't easy! It ain't easy...
(Leach is now spinning around in circles, still waving his spatula; eventually, he loses his balance and falls to the ground.)
I fell on my keys...
(spaghetti strainer still in front of his eyes, Leach continues to wave his mighty spatula at his attacker, but Beau is already quite a distance away)
Huzzah!
Sure, I like The X-Files. I'm not a diehard fan, as I'm more partial to the stand-alone, "monster of the week" episodes, rather than the conspiracy eps. which obviously make up the bulk of the series. But I like stuff like "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose," featuring a touching performance by...
I'm a big fan of Hugh Laurie, especially his earlier works. My favorite is A Bit of Fry and Laurie, a BBC comedy sketch series that ran between 1989 and 1995. Hugh and comic partner Stephen Fry wrote and performed this classic show. The two later teamed up for Jeeves and Wooster, another comedy...
Hmmm...I'm really not sure who the first breakout guest star on TMS was, Pepper, but I can give you a quick rundown on the stars in that first season, and what they were best known for when they did the show.
Jim Nabors - actor and singer; appeared on The Andy Griffith Show and his own sitcom...
Heh heh, I think the guys really stuck it to Sloane for his "generosity." Some of the barbs and one-liners are particularly mean-spirited (but in an absolutely hilarious way). BTW, according to one of the MST3K sites, Rick Sloane is working on a SEQUEL to Hobgoblins! A future Film Crew episode?
The Touch of Satan, which follows Hobgoblins in MST3K order, is another standout ep. It's a cheesy, early-70s film about a young fellow who wanders onto a walnut farm, and falls in love with a beautiful woman. Who happens to be a witch. And she also has a crazy, murderous wizened old grandma...
Ah, Hobgoblins...killer hand puppets! I love the scene where the Hobgoblins are speeding around in a golf cart.
And of course, there's the gang's infamous visit to Club Scum, where Mike and the 'Bots can't understand the lyrics to the song "Kiss Kicker."
Fish Picker?
Pig Liquor?
