Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I'm now thinking about how, since this thread was started, I have not started a new thread in the Classic Muppets folder (in fact I think it's been awhile since I last started any thread, but especially not Classic Muppets). If there's something I want to talk about that doesn't have its own...
Suddenly, I thought of another DVD idea (which wouldn't need to be an anniversary idea), one with an hour of the best-known segments (yes, that would include a lot of stuff that's been released on video many times, but could also include many of the best segments that have never had a video...
I don't know, but I think some people here have had contact with Sesame Workshop in the past (can't remember who). I remember before Sesame Street: Old School Volume 1 came out that somebody had heard from Sesame Workshop that they were "considering" making such a collection, and I think we...
On the subject of whether or not Disney will release the remaining seasons, I've noticed that now seems to be a good time for DVD releases of shows previously unavailable due to rights issues. The Wonder Years and Batman are finally getting their long-awaited DVD releases, and I've read that the...
I wonder if Ernie is completely recast now, or if it's more of a Frank Oz situation, where the new performer does Ernie whenever Steve isn't available, but Steve does perform when he is available (of course, at first David Rudman and Eric Jacobson were just supposed to perform Frank Oz's...
Wouldn't it be funny if, instead of making a big 45th anniversary celebration, they made a viral video where Oscar angrily tells the fans that the show doesn't need a 45th anniversary celebration? Might be a little mean, though.
Has anybody considered contacting Sesame Workshop and asking if...
While we still don't know what the main content of Elmo's Super Numbers is (besides an extended version of the Numericon street story), this would have been an ideal opportunity to include various parody segments related to the kinds of franchises one would expect to see at Comic Con or a...
I recently found an article about the 16th season, which mentions that some of the adults would finally believe in Snuffy (I'm not sure if that was all supposed to be spread out throughout the season - like Maria would believe Big Bird in one episode, then Linda would believe him later, then...
I just watched the movie "Invaders from Mars", and in the opening credits, it says "based on a screenplay by..." before the "screenplay by..." credit. But wouldn't most movies be based on their screenplays? I'm sure most movies get rewritten multiple times, and the majority of some movies have a...
I didn't really notice there being a lot put out last year that would be expected for the anniversary. There weren't even any more iTunes releases of classic episodes or any DVDs aimed at collectors (the closest would be Fairy Tale Fun, which had five classic clips, two of which had already been...
I'm a little mixed on this. On one hand, it could be too much to have threads on every single episode, but on the other hand, those of us who saw episodes way later than their premiere could comment on them in the episode threads, without having to post in the season threads long after they had...
Is this a regular thing on CBS This Morning? Recently I saw a clip from an appearance Art Garfunkle made on a show (which I can't remember whether it was CBS This Morning or a different show) where he wrote a letter to his past self. Could there be other celebrities who have done the same thing...
Another idea that would be great: If they did something similar to the contest 20th Century Fox recently did for The Simpsons, where fans get selected to compete to see who can watch the most consecutive episodes of Sesame Street. Though it seems like something Sesame Workshop might not want to...
Actually I believe Sesame Street Unpaved says that they use rice cakes, not rice crackers.
It's interesting, at one point in the book, it reveals that the cookies are usually rice cakes (I believe it mentions that real cookies are occasionally used, but they're just a certain kind of cookie...
SPOILER WARNING: I can't determine whether what I say in this post is a spoiler or not, but I tried to put most of it in white so it'll appear invisible and have to be highlighted to be read, but even though it works in preview, when I hit "post" and then every time I hit "save changes" the text...
In the 1985 movie Fright Night, at one point one of the main characters points out that nobody cares about vampire movies anymore. Not only have vampire movies gained in popularity in the past few years, but this movie came out the same year as another vampire movie, Once Bitten. I get the...
I've been puzzled over an internet meme inspired by the Lipton ads. It's a photo of Kermit drinking tea, with a caption which starts begins pointing out something fairly negative about something and then ends with "but that's none of my business".
It goes well with the still image, but Kermit...
Same here. I constantly find used copies of various movies and Fairie Tale Theater videos, and more occasionally find the Dr. Seuss videos (but I saw those at more video stores than the Muppet ones).
Question for Brian:
Was there anything about Jim Henson or his work that you were hoping to find out about when researching/interviewing for the book, even if it's something that you wouldn't have actually put in the book, that you were not able to find the answers you were looking for?
