Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
For me, I believe he stopped being a regular performer in the mid-1990's...I mean, after Jim died, most of Frank's characters returned to SS, mainly Grover and Cookie Monster, and occasionally Bert. In the late 1990s, Eric Jacobson took over Bert and Grover while Frank did other projects, and...
First I would sing with Miss Piggy (& Rowlf on piano)...some love song a la Lou Rawls, Elton John or Kris Kristofferson.
Then I would do some kind of skit with Thog, Sweetums, & Timmy Monster.
Then I would talk with either Kermit or Fozzie, and maybe help them with any problems they're having...
Exactly. Yesterday's SS is not politically correct enough for today's children. Kids' TV these days is like a babysitter while the parents are away at work or watching their own shows on Lifetime or ESPN. (ugh) It's funny, Mupcollector1...I grew up watching the Around the Corner era of SS, but I...
I was watching Nightly News on NBC in late August when Brian Williams said, "Coming up...a sad day on one of the world's most beloved Streets." I said to my parents, "I hope one of the puppeteers didn't die. I hope it's not Caroll Spinney. What if it's...Jerry?"
My parents did not respond. But...
Hi everybody!
I drew this picture of the MS gang three years ago as a going-away gift for my college-bound brother. Now I am in college, and I scanned this picture so I would have it too. I want to share it with you all, but I can't seem to upload it because it's in pdf format on my MacBook...
Ah, Kermit finally turns the tables on Grover in the 2 lecture.
Don't forget the other Grover the salesman skit with the earmuffs:
"Can I have some nosemuffs? How about some shoulder muffs? Or tummy muffs? Listen, Grover: Frogs DON'T have ears!....we hear anyway." LOL
This is reeeeaaaally good so far!
I want to find out what happens next...the suspense is driving me insane!
I want to hear more characters' thoughts, too. What does Gonzo think? How about Kermit's trusty gofer, Scooter? What about Beaker, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, & the Electric Mayhem? We've heard...
I'd like to find the one with Cookie Monster interrupting Mr. Chatterly's show. That seems to be a very hard sketch to find.
Mupcollector1, I agree with you. From what I've seen of the classic SS vs. modern SS, the classic material is definitely more irreverent & edgy.
And I wish Jim...
Gonzo's resilience and devil-may-care attitude make him my fave by Dave. :concern: even though the smiley suggests otherwise.
Zoot is a close second. Goelz's method of performing him (let the sax do the talking) is genius.
Yes! Susan had an album like that, too & SHE was part of the Little People...man, Bob got dissed. If Fisher Price made him into a figurine, they should have given him a brightly colored body to represent those loud shirts he used to wear...hahaha
Well there weren't many...I have found a few on Youtube for the letters R, O, and B, but I have heard that there are others (I think 5 were made from 1974-1994).
And the host's name was Mr. Chatterly...
The best one in my opinion is the letter R skit because Guy Smiley & Gladys the Cow make...
HAHAH! Yeah, that was the best Don Music skit of all time...and I loved it when the Monotones sang backup. The pose at the end kills me too... :D
Actually, there wasn't a single second of that skit when I wasn't laughing.
(and if you watch closely during the actual "Mary Had a Bicycle" piece...
I see your point about Luis, Maria, & David...they were still new to the show. (and Luis is kind of included as a cartoon representation where the Fix-It Shop is) But Bob was around since the beginning, and he was great with kids, and they'd be able to recognize him. I think they should have...
