If you're gonna be alone up there, dw, my offer to come up and drag you down to Tucson to see a screening with my IRL Muppet peeps still stands. I can afford gas and tickets if you buy the drinks! :news:

All the fiction you guys are listing is good solid stuff, I think...but what about nonfiction? Other than celeb bios, does anyone read serious nonfic?
My reading jag lately has been all press/journalism/censorship works. There's another thread on here discussing...

I haven't been here enough years to hide anything, Snowthy!
That would be the Truth or Dare thread. Go start one. :)

I can sleep by firelight. No other lights. Oh, wait. LOVE Xmas tree lights, the tiny multicolored blinky ones...that I can do.

Here is a Muppet News Flash! Reports are pouring in -- *ducks as bucketfuls of paper rain down on him* Er...to the effect that one "Ryan," the webmaster of a well-documented Muppet site, is NOT, in fact, a Doozer! The scandal rocked the Fraggle world today as denizens of the depths...

I KNEW it! I KNEW it I KNEW it! I KNEW you were going for the end of "Casablanca!" LOL Perfect!!! :)
TOO d--d funny. I need to reread this one again later. A couple of times at least. The very public scene between Jimmy and Annie Sue was very pro, very melodrama, and...

Hope you're feeling better, Slackbot! And no hurry. Yes, I see Newsie very much doing the whole Mr Rogers thing...comes home, takes off coat and tie, gets into sweater and slippers. And absolutely slippers with the PJs. I gave him fluffy bunny ones in one fic, but you decide...

“Bringing you the truth in a world gone Max.”
Does anyone else here recall that tagline? It’s on a magazine ad I still have, for the long-gone show Max Headroom. And while most people who recall the show at all only remember the wisecracking, Pepsi-hawking...

Oh thankyou! Uh...they ARE Halloween Oreos right? With the orange filling? Nom nom nom nom!
Thanks for commenting WhiteRabbit! I do my best to keep everyone in character, even the obscure ones. Much of the Muppets' humor is based on the bizarre interactions between...

Haven't seen the book around here anywhere...but the library has copies on order, and I have one of those reserved. Thanks for the reviews without true spoilers -- I will probably hold off on reading it until I see the film!

Lived in the SE most of my life and I despise Krispy Kremes. That puff pastry glopped with sugarglaze is NOT a doughnut! Where's the DOUGH??
My friend in Portland sent me a personal review of a place there called Voodoo Donuts. I'm jealous.

I'd probably stick with whomever the current Doc was, and try for continuity with existing storylines if needed. As to theme...I have a soft spot for the really creepy ones. Probably something paranoia-inducing for the characters which even the Doctor gets creeped out...

I saw the original something like 8 times in the theatre the summer it opened; it was my all-time fave for years afterwards. I'm content for now with my own dvd copy...there's something lovely about being able to control it as I watch!

The whole Philip Pullman series is on my "should read" list but I haven't reached it yet. I have newish China Mieville, Harlan Ellison, and Jasper Fforde in the wings first!
Hey! someone else who knows who Walter Moers is! Bravo! Have you read "The City of Lost Books"...

Back when I was working at Bookmans I actually refused to buy any of those "you too can learn house flipping and become a real estate mogul with no money down" type of books. We weren't supposed to censor anything...but I'd take freakin' Hannity books across the trade...

Sounds like a fun plan, Bigz! Go for it. For extra points, have the Muppet "trick-or-treat" along with the kiddies. Make him a little pumpkin to hold his candy! See how many houses actually give him something...hee hee hee....

Interfaith families' kids get all the cool holidays...
I never recall even hearing about Jewish holidays while I was growing up. Guess my schools were pretty WASP. Sad.
