Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I voted Scooter, too. I had a tough time choosing between him and Rowlf. My only reason, really, is that I'd like to have a Muppet replica representing the main Muppeteers I've always admired. I already have Kermit. Richard needs some recognition, too.
Like I mentioned in another thread...
(Tips hat skyward to Richard and quotes Gobo Fraggle from "The Honk of Honks" with the same emphasis and sincerity):
"Thanks...thanks for everything."
Convincing John
Surprised no one mentioned this...
I had the badly pixelated Oscar image as well. I wondered about the timing, too. I heard Maria and Luis singing, but I didn't see them. Maybe they were on the other side of the float?
Anyone else notice the "old school" theme they used during the...
I hope you get a chance to check it out, it's cool!:)
As I said in an earlier post (that's gone now:confused: ) Steve has a big responsibility with Kermit now that Jim isn't around. He is getting better with our favorite frog and it really shows here. "Get back, Loretta!" That line was my...
Rowlf and Scooter have my vote. With them made, we'd get the "main seven" Muppets from TMS. Think about it. Hard core fans will be buying these guys. In the old days, focusing on this particular set of seven characters seemed to be true when the old "ha!" company merchandised them. Check...
As for Gonzo, there's an interview on MC by Judy Harris. She interviewed Jim and the following question is about Gonzo:
He's really one of my favorite characters. What exactly is he?
HENSON: He's nothing, that's one of the good things about him.
So there you go, the answer right from Jim...
Same here. I've read that even the people who have worked with Henson, Sesame etc. still have a sense of awe for the characters that doesn't go away.
To us are around here, the Muppets have "rock star" status. They mean so much to us. I'm very happy that you shared the Kermit moments with...
Arrrgh! I didn't know Kermit was going to be on Deal or No Deal! I missed it!
Ah well, at least I caught him on Paula. The appearance was awesome awesome AWESOME!
You could tell that Kermit (and Steve) was having fun with this appearance. I won't spoil it by telling what happened (in...
OK, gotcha. I just wondered how it all fit together. The last thing I'd want is for a new Henson production to be grounded over some "gray area" of legal copywrites.
And just to throw this into the mix, the opening credits of FR had "starring Jim Henson's Muppets" in it once upon a time. So...
That's right, everyone! Our froggy friend will be appearing with Paula Deen Friday night, November 9 on the Food Network, 8PM Central Time, 9 Eastern. Looks like he'll be helping with a pumpkin pie.

A question about the characters...
I haven't seen the pilot yet, but I've wondered, can/are these characters considered "Muppets" or are they something else, like "Henson Alternative characters"?
Since Disney owns the regular Muppets (Kermit and the gang) would they swoop down and close...
Yep, it's true, Bo!
I wish I could remember which book it came from! It has a lot of puzzles and games in it, and in the middle, there's this picture of Bo (with the anvil and his mop) and the biography. If I find out, I'll let you know. It should be a part of Bo's entry at the Muppet Wiki...
Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween, everyone!
Hope you all get lots of treats (but no tricks!):p
Anyone planning to watch any scary stuff on TV? Things with scary monsters with diabolical laughter?
Like this? (Bwa ha ha ha!)
I will say that with all the weird movies out there, there's...
Yeah, they were ads just for the companies. The P.M. one was supposed to be a motivational film for their sales reps.
Of course, there have been much more offensive things shown in animation, but I don't want to get into that.
Getting back to smoking, remember Pee-Wee's Playhouse? The...
Cultoons
Hey,
My brother gave me a DVD called Cultoons!, which (for fans of old animation) has many rare cartoon shorts on it.
A couple of the cartoons on it reminded me of this thread...especially the penguin one. Back then, cartoons not only smoked cigarettes, but they made cigarettes as...
I may have an answer about Animal...
Well, I think we can all agree that Floyd would know more about Animal than anyone else, right?
Well, in the Lou Rawls ep of TMS, Lou meets up with Floyd and Animal. Lou wants to hire him for a gig and speak with him man to man.
Floyd: (blinks) "Man...
Bo, believe it or not, lives underground. An actual biography of him was given in one of the early Muppet Show books (an activity book if I remember right)...the title escapes me right now..."Fun and Games With the Muppets?"...
Anyway, when Bo was interviewed, he couldn't remember who his...
Yeah, Nermal's a boy
Check it out from Wikipedia, Count. I always thought Nermal was a girl, too. But...

Convincing John
Well, Karen Prell would have the only answer to that! Maybe Karen was saying hi to her mom (like a Carol Burnett tug-at-the-ear type of thing) although Karen had to take a different approach, since Red has no earlobes.:p
Nonsense! In my book you can't watch enough Fraggle Rock. I'll have...
