Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I have another one I thought of this afternoon.
I'm a big fan of Jim Henson's early work (the Wilkins coffee commercials, Sam and Friends, etc.) As much as I love the Muppet stuff from the 1970's to the "Stand by Me" video, I think the Wilkins Coffee commercial with the tree is one of the...
Thanks for your response, Mr. Lewis. If Mr. Lazer gives you permission, thanks in advance for telling us the circus wagon story. My second question was just something I was curious about because "Turn the World Around" is such a memorable number and I wasn't sure if anyone at Henson remembered...
Where it's just Statler without Waldorf, right? I remember that one. It's one of their middle-of-the-road references for me. It wasn't a cheap shot (like the Ernie and Bert references they do), but at least it was somewhat accurate to the character. You could almost expect Statler to say...
The Circus Wagon Story...
I have a question for Mr. Lewis, if he wouldn't mind answering.
My question has to do with something Harry Belafonte wrote about David Lazer. It's found in the introduction of the book "Jim Henson: The Works", which most of us have.
Here is the quote:
I am...
I wondered that, too. Let's see, if it is "so is life" in another language, Guinea has a bunch of mother languages (according to Wikipedia, anyway). Which language would it be?
I thought briefly that it was just a nonsense word that Harry made up, kinda like a scat word. But everything in the...
Hey everyone,
I got a question for y'all.
I was watching the classic clip "Turn the World Around" the other day from the Harry Belafonte episode (one of my favorite songs from the whole series):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLqb64Pb9So
I wondered though, what does the word "abatiwaha"...
Some of my favorites...
Heh...I kinda liked the moog PBS thing they had after the old Sesame Street. If anything else, it makes me feel nostalgic.
There were logos I liked as a kid, too. Sometimes I just thought they looked cool. Mostly, though, they were signals that something awesome was...
There was a thread about what Animal his a while ago. Here's my theory.
Although Frank Oz might have a different answer. Did anyone ask him about this in an interview?

Y'know what I saw in a claw machine once? An honest-to-goodness plush Barkley. He was about a foot and a half long and made with fake fur...looked just like him. This was back in 1997-98 or so. I wanted that Barkley so bad at the time, I wasted about $10 at the machine, but the flimsy claw...
Oh, I don't doubt it, but it seems like Disney (since it's such a huge company) is "snippier" than the rest. Some companies hire "Lionel Hutz" type of lawyers 'cause that's all they can afford. But with all the Mickey Mouse Money, Disney's probably got some of the most powerful lawyers in the...
I wonder if future negotiations will take place? It makes me wonder...
I know people have mentioned it before, but Sesame Workshop must have some good partership between themselves and Disney.
When the Henson Company put out Emmet Otter and The Christmas Toy, they said:
"Uh, Disney...
Kathy, let me tell you, it ain't easy finding someone to date if you live in an area full of senior citizens.
My hometown was (and still is) loaded full of them. No kidding, over 75% of the town is over retirement age. What makes it worse is that the place is rapidly becoming a ghost town...
For some reason, I could totally hear Baby Bear saying that. I don't know why, but it just popped into my head. Couldn't you see him shoving away a box of Peeps and being grossed out?
If you did nothing else this Valentine's Day, you got to participate in this thread and vent your...
Carrot sticks?
Carrot sticks?
(Shakes head slowly in disbelief and disappointment)
And people were worried about Don Music causing people to bang their heads in frustration...

No kidding? (Shrug) I thought either it was him or another long-time SS veteran that didn't like the idea in Street Gang. I'll have to look that up again.:search:

There is an unpublished collection of Jon Stone's memoirs that was referenced in "Street Gang". Man, would I love to read that! I know he wasn't too crazy about the "Around the Corner" idea.

Updates
I found two more articles with updates on how Susan's doing:

I found this out on the Tough Pigs Forum. Loretta Long (Susan) was hit by a car and she's in the hospital (in stable condition).
