I was disappointed that Gobo didn't read Matt's postcard from Equestria during the marathon. I figured someone had to actually write it, right?
Red and Rainbow Dash would get along like a house on fire. Screaming, panic, random destruction... but if they got over their competitiveness and...
And here it is, with the seams all picked and brushed down and the lip sewn to the mouthplate:
Hmm, that tongue may be a tad too wide. I'll compare it to the original character and see if that needs changing.
Is this thread of any use or interest to anyone? If it isn't I'll stop wasting...
Dear Nephew Gobo,
The other day I found myself in Equestria, a very magical place, even moreso than Fraggle Rock. It is populated by the Hoofed Creatures, which come in all colors. There are pink ones and purple ones and orange ones and blue ones. In fact, they come in all the colors that...
Today I've been a real sew-and-sew. Here's the head all sewn up.
Next: to attach the lips to the mouthplate. I've drawn an outline of the lipline on the palate in red Sharpie, which may sound dire, but after I've sewn the fleece up to the edge of that guideline it simply disappears. You...
Skinning the head...
Here's an Extreeeeme Close-Up showing the Henson Stitch, which is like the ladder stitch, but it zigzags rather than parallels. To the right of the green pin, what the stitches look like before pulled tight. Between red and green, what the seam looks like pulled tight...
Boiling fur changes straight fur to nice, wooly, rumply stuff. I'm sure you know what fake fur looks like off the bolt. Now look at a Fraggle's fur, or Fozzie Bear's, or Rowlf's. That's what boiling will do.
There's a chocolate brown fur that ought to serve you well. You can buy it from Mendel's or Fabric.com. On Mendel's it's called Punky Muppet, and on Fabric.com it's Luxury Shag. It's the same fur, available in the same colors; the difference is that at Fabric.com you pay about $5 less per yard...
So some people have asked me how I build my puppets. And others have expressed interest in a "build journal." So, what the heck, I thought it'd be fun to show my work on my latest puppet. I'm making this from the ground up, starting with creating my own patterns from scratch, so there may be...
An illo for the final chapter of The Minstrel's Path, which was a rewritten version of Coda:
Passing the Torch: I've wanted to draw this for a while. I held back because I was a little intimidated by Murray, who is flippin' hard to draw.
Ouch! I'm sorry to see that the situation is bad enough to make you part with these collectibles. I hope that the humans of the household are fine, and that you get past this rough patch without too much grief.
I went to the CPA today. Some puppets have been taken down and other puppets have been added. Here's what I can remember:
The Southern Colonel has been swapped out for T. R. Rooster.
Sir Didymus has been swapped out for some dolls from Sarah's room. There's a teddy bear, two clocks, a...
Thanks, guys! When I put him next to my Janken puppet I can see how far I've come in less than a year. Before Dragon*Con I'll definitely have a Janken 2.0, and he'll look more like Papa Wembley and less like Rumple.
*chuckle* I'm chilling out and being me! I'm sleeping in, cooking things I normally don't have the time or energy to cook, and making puppets. Oh, and working on a book I'm illustrating.
I'm not sure. I was leaning more towards :smirk: Papa #3, actually, as I already have all the materials for him except the stripey shirt and neckerchief fabric. But we'll see.
Actually, those aren't fruits and veggies. Those are chattering teeth and <ConvincingJohn>funny nose...
