Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
It was really bizarre, yet very funny, how every time we kept cutting back to Hobo Joe sitting in the theater, his voice was completely different. Whose idea was that, and did Zack G. do any of those voices, or did any of the Muppet performers do some of them?
I saw today, after watching Arthur, that Lisa and Brian have their own "Be More" spot on PBS, talking about Jim's vision for television, and how they continue with his vision by creating quality family programming for PBS (Dinosaur Train and Sid the Science Kid), as well as the importance of PBS...
Something just now occured to me about KSY.
Clearly, it's supposed to be a period piece, from Kermit's childhood, and it's pretty evident throughout much of the film... but then, when we get to George Washington High School, it pretty much looks like a modern-day high school, most things...
Has anyone ever seen, or even remember this movie?
I got to thinking about it the other day, I saw it maybe a couple of times as a kid, probably on either HBO or Cartoon Network, or both; it's a really rare movie (due to an initially limited theatrical release, and multiple different versions...
I've got to thinking: as intimately closely Frank worked along side Jim on almost every project the Muppet/Henson crew was involved with, from his early days with the company, up through the 80s when he began to branch out into his own directing career, has there ever been any consideration...
I'm watching the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie on Hub, and I got to thinking: remakes of older TV shows have been around for a looooong time, and as a matter of fact, a lot of remakes used to be GOOD. Well, okay, maybe not "good", but tolerable. Dan Aykroyd's version of Dragnet in 1987 was a funny...
Shopping for fabric for puppet building is always a headache in general anyway, but I've found that one of the biggest woes when it comes to fabric shopping is how half the time, you can never really find the exact colors you want.
Has this ever happened to any of you? Take pink for example...
I've been curious about something...
Are puppet sets (long term or limbo) built on a human scale, before being raised for use for puppets? I couldn't help but notice that in a number of Muppet sketches, inserts, etc, the sets seem unusually big in relations to the puppets... or, at the very...
Something I've been curious about.
We know Jim wanted to avoid having the "kiddy entertainer" stigma put on him, and he even found himself living that nightmare between the time SST became successful and before TMS became just as successful (even calling up Joan Ganz Cooney and telling he she...
As to what would be the next in this current trend of taking old fairy tales, and turning them into twistedly dark cinematic epics.
This time? Hansel and Gretel.

The first season of SST had a number of different Muppet inserts where they actually perform popular songs, very much like if they were a precursor to what TMS later became. What are some of your favorites of these? Some of mine are, in no particular order:
For the past few days, I've been having issues with posting on the forum:
I'll click Post Reply, but nothing will happen (save for those three little loading bars continuing their cycle) for about a minute, then I'll receive an error message saying, "The server could not respond in time...
It just now occured to me, I believe that Dave (Vic Romano) had a birthday yesterday, so here's a belated happy birthday thread to one of the greatest artists, and one of the coolest cats there is!
Happy (belated) birthday, bro! Hope you had a good one!
I got to thinking the other day: both prior to, and post-TMS, Jim traveled to Canada quite often for his productions, such as early Muppet specials, as well as FR, and even FTB was filmed in Canada.
With that in mind, since Jim already had a history with them, how is it nobody up in Canada was...
This is an idea that's been in my mind for who knows how long, but a fully developed plot just now finally came to me, so here's a short little story I whipped up. And I know the idea has been done to death, it's really mostly part of the ending that I really wanted to work into a story, so...
Any body else wish this guy would just... go away forever, or some thing?
I mean, admittedly, used to, whenever he'd get into a feud with some body over some thing insignificant, it was a little amusing at best, because you knew it was just Trump being Trump... but now... it's gotten to a...
For those of you who have Comcast/xfinity cable service, with Video On Demand, the first season of Saturday Night Live is currently available... and you know what THAT means, do you not?
Now would be a good time, for those who haven't, to see The Land of Gorch, and see what SNL was like when...
I see today is your bday, well, I hope ya have a good one today!
Hey, can we get a special Muppet Newsflash out here to let every one know today's Newsie's birthday?
:news: Here is a Muppet Newsflash - Muppet Central Forum member celebrates day of birth today. This comes on the heels...
