Telly's Pogo Stick Accident: my thoughts

More natural talk from kids...that's one of the great things about Sesame Street that needs to be kept. Grover's conversation may not be on a par with Kermit's alphabet song being "ruined" by a Cookie Monster fanatic, but it's still a good job as kids' programming goes.

Telly's Pogo Stick Accident: my thoughts

    1. L is for Local Lunatic: It seems the "neatnik program scheduler" struck again at our PBS station: four consecutive episodes (not all from the same season) have had consecutive Letters of the Day. *hums a few bars of the Twilight Zone theme* 2. One Day Only: The Trash Gordon ending has...

    Those Baby Sesame Street videos.

I've never heard of Big Bird having an aunt; do you mean Granny Bird? (I've seen her in a few books when I was a kid...)

    Kermit vs. Sesame merchandise...?

Nowadays, it seems that Disney has tightened the rules further: I haven't seen Kermit in any Muppet sketches, except when he's one puppet in a crowd ("Do de Rubber Duck"). Any word on the restrictions changing?

    Guy Smiley singing the seasons

I've seen that sketch, all right; the puppet even sings the way Guy sings his song full of E-words in the Letter of the Day Pageant. The extra-fast seasonal changes do drive him crazy at the end of the other sketch, turning his singing voice into a half-sob. One thing I wonder about Guy's...

    What's your favorite Sesame 1-2-3's?

I don't speak more than a smattering of Hebrew (thanks to some Jewish friends online), but the word should be transliterated as arba. I agree with you, though, that the Hebrew-dubbed version of that clip sounded weird. (Not to mention more awkward than the Spanish version; almost all Hebrew...

    What's your favorite Sesame 1-2-3's?

Did that elephant get stuck at the number 14, by any chance? If he did, then that clip was dubbed from a Swedish original....I can't resist doing an impression when the elephant hits "14--14--14" in Swedish.:flirt: ) Is that the animation of a tropical island underneath a full moon, whose...

    What's your favorite Sesame 1-2-3's?

Yep, the parody was sung by a girl who takes a lunch break, but can't make up her mind about the sandwiches on a menu ("There's 18, and I don't know what I want...there's 18, I can't decide what I want"). She then sings a list of the sandwiches featured on the menu; a picture of each one...

    What's your favorite Sesame 1-2-3's?

*nods* That was an early computer animation, all right; the style reminds me of the "Nobody" sketch about the number 10. ("Nobody" was an unofficial nickname for the disembodied rubber-band face which did most of the talking/counting.) Back to the 4 sketch, though: in addition to the...

    What's your favorite Sesame 1-2-3's?

I'd nominate the "Jazzy Spies" series as my favorite classic number segments, with the "Pinball" series in second place and the "Baker" series in third. (I've always had a fear of falling, so those endings scared me when I was a kid.) I've seen the #2 and #7 clips on a couple of vintage-TV...

    What's your favorite Sesame 1-2-3's?

That's one of the earliest number segments I remember seeing; does anybody know whether it aired in Season Two? (I seem to remember that Season One episodes never taught numbers higher than ten; if I'm right, the "11" clip couldn't be that old.) Heck, yeah...I must've driven Mom crazy...

    What's your favorite Sesame 1-2-3's?

That sketch was made in the early 90's, although I don't remember an exact year or an episode number. The setting I do remember: it was a day-care center, not a park.

Cute and Fuzzy Four: not half bad

Thanks for noticing another line I didn't hear; whoever wrote that screenplay must have remembered how funny the classic episodes were. Most of Season 35, in fact, feels like an attempt to blend classic and new material. I'm not totally surprised, though: from the 20th anniversary on, Sesame...

Old School Sesame coming to DVD October 2006

*drools longingly* It's times like this that I wish I had ordered a DVD drive for this computer, although watching old Sesame Street for hours on end could kill my monitor.

    Muppet cartoon by Lowercasegods

That hairdresser had better know karate, or he'll land in BIIIIG trouble before you can say "Who, moi?" Great visual gags!

    Muppet cartoon by Lowercasegods

*nods* I don't want to start a flame war with my opinion of the Disney buyout or of Brian Henson's attitude; I remember the last time my posts turned people's temper ugly on this forum. Still, your cartoon expresses some Muppet fans' cynicism exceptionally well.

    The Pillsbury Doughboy died today...

Although I've read this joke before, it's always good for a chuckle. Wonder if any Sesame Street fans have added in-jokes about "sometimes food" to this story? (Pillsbury does sell slice-and-bake rolls of cookie dough, after all...)

Cute and Fuzzy Four: not half bad

I agree that the Wubba Wubba song was inappropriately silly for the new band; besides, very little of the song was left after the script writers decided to drop the monster-related lines. Otherwise, I loved following Gordon's conversation with his father. How many newer episodes focus on human...

Cute and Fuzzy Four: not half bad

Did anyone else see "The Cute and Fuzzy Four" today? In my opinion, it's one of the best recent episodes on the air: Elmo was cooperating with other cast members (Muppet or human) as an equal, not as the leader of the group. Three humans played a major part, and one of them doesn't appear...

    Kermit's poor bicycle skills

I forgot what almost flattened Kermit; thanks for refreshing my memory though. :) "If frogs couldn't hop, I'd be gone with the Schwinn!" :o
