Bear arrives on Disney+ The beloved series has been off the air for the past 15 years. Now all four seasons are finally available for a whole new generation.
Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Judging by the name I picked for my first goldfish, I must've remembered the orange Oscar subconsciously even as a kindergartner (for the record, I was born in early '69). To name one of my more recent habits...
You know you're a classic Sesame Street fan when you've jokingly assigned blog...
I agree that Abby looks as if she were designed for some other kids' show, and that her introduction was seriously over-hyped (come on, she's appeared in only three episodes this season!). With everyone else's fairy godthings turning up lately, she isn't as distinctive as the producers meant...
Cute episode, although the Cookie Monster "H" clip should've been dropped. (If a letter or number is already part of the street story, then the recurring announcement clips waste air time.)
P.S. It's kind of sad that the writers overlooked an obvious "H" word which fit Maria and Luis'...
Now that PBS has shown three bona-fide new episodes this week, I can hardly wait for the next reviews. Here's hoping that laptop arrives in good condition soon! *crosses her fingers*
Thanks, NantoSeiken; the new clip's been rated and added to my faves list. *biiig huuug* By the way, did you ever find a copy of that clip with the boy and bear sharing a bubble bath? THAT is an "awww!" clip if I ever saw one... :flirt:
NantoSeiken: the link you gave for the "Four Dragons" clip leads to an entirely different clip. ("The Mystery of the Four Dragons", according to my search, doesn't exist on YouTube at all. :( ) Thank you for uploading the rest of them, though... *offers you a hug*
Those old pool locations (if they're dry but not filled in now) would make good places for the Muppeteers to stand without feeling too crowded; I assume they've got some way to see the street-level action from down there.
Note to self: buy a few state lottery tickets each month and keep my fingers crossed. If there's any nonprofit group for kids I'd support if I had the money, Sesame Workshop qualifies... :)
As far as I know, "Letter/Number of the Day" didn't exist as recurring segments until sometime after Season 30; none would have been made before the show changed to its recent format. Before then, most episodes just showed letter/number sketches without a special introduction. The few...
On a different note: are any other fans disappointed about the wait for new episodes? Even the Season 37 shows get repeated now; the national PBS cable station showed Gina's graduation for the second time. I'm disappointed in Sesame Workshop for building up expectations (new characters, new...
That's exactly why most older counting series lacked a "1" segment: according to the Muppet Wiki, the first episodes sponsored by the number 1 aired in 1986. (Sesame Street expanded their sponsor range from 2-12 to 0-20 in that same year...and began showing segments that counted to 40, even if...
Losing characters' classic theme songs is a crying shame: Ernie still owns a rubber duck but doesn't sing about it, and Cookie Monster sings that preachy "A Cookie Is a Sometimes Food" song now. (Judging by the way sweets get demonized in other health segments, the new song should have been...
In addition to the English and Spanish versions, I dimly recall a Hebrew translation of "Me" being performed on the "Shalom Sesame" co-production. (The show actually used the American bilingual clip, with Hebrew dubbed over the Spanish.) Has anyone else here seen or heard that one?
You're probably right, especially since new jobs developed (one 90s version included a "cable guy") and old ones changed titles (in another 90s remake, the postman was now female and called herself a "letter carrier").
Some of the variations, such as colonial-era jobs at a historical site...
Great idea; most number-of-the-day segments are boringly predictable, although the new format (kids on the street helping the Count count) has varied the action more. What made the Baker, Pinball and Jazz number clips so memorable? In my opinion, the animators kept a good balance between...
Cookie never mentioned cookies in "Fuzzy and Blue" either; the closest he came was his ending remark about wanting to eat his blanket. I think he was picked for "Google Bugle" because of his trademark googly eyes; the only other Muppets built with those were Cookie's family, if I remember...
A later father-and-son sketch (with the politically correct "Caveperson Days" title...:boo: ): Cave-Bert complains that Cave-Ernie spends too much time playing his drum to help take out the trash, which involves carrying one piece of junk to the dump each time. Eventually, an angry Cave-Bert...
