Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Several years ago, there was a list thread about the Muppeteers playing to their strengths as performers(most versatile, most funny, etc.) Well, one of the categories was best singer. IIRC, the ratings were a tie between Jerry and Richard, then Jim, then Frank, and Dave Goelz didn't even...
I read a very vague statement somewhere that the UK Doc segments have since been destroyed. This leaves me with a lot of questions: 1) Are the actual filmed segments destroyed or simply the negatives? 2) Why have they been destroyed (if they even have been)?

Horne will be remembered by Henson fans for her guest appearance on The Muppet Show and her memorable performance of "The ABC Song" on Sesame Street.

Admittedly I was not a big fan of their music but they were still a wildly popular group, so I'm still a little sad. Though, in terms of innovation and spectacle, they were very much the KISS of the 21st century.
I recently sent an e-mail to Tim Wynne-Jones (one of the lyricists on Fraggle Rock) and asked him what his favorite song of his written for the show was. I told him that my favorite was "Take It Away" from Doomsday Soup. Here's his reply:
"So fun! Thanks, Brian. That was the very first song...
Seems like I have to start one of these threads every year, doesn't it? Anyway, this year Dad has to get multiple kidney stones surgically removed. His surgery is on March 7th, so please send prayers and good thoughts his way.
I thought it was important to look at an early part of Sesame Street history; I just can't get over how much work must have went into making just one of these segments.
For those who don't know, Sugith was a writer on Fraggle Rock. I e-mailed him on a whim asking him what his favorite episode was of the ones he wrote and told him that my favorite is Home Is Where The Trash Is. Here's his reply:
"Hi Brian
Thanks for your email. Fraggle Rock was the best...
Does anyone else find it a little strange that there continues to be plush merchandise of Super Grover? That incarnation of Grover seems to be such a product (pardon the pun) of the 1980's that it almost seems obsolete to this era of the show.

The voice of Chief Powhatan (from Pocahontas) has passed away at age 72.
Assuming that the Fraggle Rock movie is still on, let's talk about possible recasts for the main characters. Richard and Jerry have passed on and I believe that Dave and Kathy have retired for the most part, so I think the only original performers who are still on board are Karen and Steve.
I voted for Baby Sinclair, but for me it's a three-way tie between BS, Howard Handupme, and Craniac.
NOTE: I do NOT want this to turn into an Elmo-bashing thread. I only included him because like it or not, he's Kevin's main character. If you don't like him, don't vote for him!
Do you think there was a choreographer on staff specifically to assist the actors in the Gorg suits with their movements/dancing? The Gorgs weren't in every episode, so it doesn't make much sense for the choreographer to be listed in the end credits. I'm thinking it might have been Betsy...
Yes, it's time for another "Revisited" thread, this time about one of the most underrated Muppet Films: The Muppets Take Manhattan!
-If this were a real college production, I doubt that the orchestra would be given a verse to sing.
-Unless I'm mistaken, this is the first of the 'dated' Muppet...
I've been checking Netflix pretty regularly to see when Being Elmo will be available, but the only option is to put it on your waiting list. I know several of you have seen this movie since it left theaters; have you ran into this difficulty with Netflix?
It seems that lately there's been a lot of threads about the various Sid and Marty Krofft series, so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and start a thread about my favorite Krofft series: "Sigmund and the Sea Monster". The basis is pretty simple: Two groovy 70's teenagers (one of whom was...
The self-proclaimed Queen of Disco has passed away at 63. My favorite song of hers is "Heaven Knows".
