    Confessing Fears

No, Ren and Stimpy started in the summer of '91(I was there. Where were you?) and was originally shown on MTV. About six months later, it found a permanent home on Nick. Ren and Stimpy might have been gross, but not shocking. Boogers and farts ruled the day. The most shocking thing was the...

    Confessing Fears

The 80s trend of making cartoons as toy commercials stemmed from the overwhelming popularity of the Smurfs. Apart from Bugs Bunny and the Pink Panther in the 70s, there was never a 90 minute cartoon show on Saturday morning. The Smurfs' ratings were off the charts. It started a merchandising...

    Best and Worst Theme Songs

There is a series of CDs out there called TeeVee Tunes that go by decades. The 70s ruled. From sitcoms, dramas, cartoons, even game shows. The one that stands out the most to me was "WelcomeBack, Kotter". Gavejohn Travolta his big break. This song was so popular it even became a top 10 hit. Two...

    Early Sesame Street was strange...

With the invisible ice cream cone, Ernie might still have money in his pocket. And he's happy to enjoy an imaginary ice cream cone. Lefty can't spend an invisible nickel. So Ernie came out ahead. Lefty didn't profit from his scam.

    Early Sesame Street was strange...

Lefty was a shady guy. He was a con man, trying to chisel Ernie out of money, but only succeeded twice. Once selling Ernie air, another time a picture of four elephants. But each time he only made off with a nickel. Petty crime at best. I wouldn't say he was a pusher. Hustler, yes. Pusher, no...

When Bobby Flay was young, he got an Easy -Bake oven for Christmas. He got so much grief and being called a sissy, becausecooking and baking is women's work. Now he's one of the most famous chefs. I love cooking, and I'm happy to break the preconceived notionthat men don't belong in the kitchen.

    What made you angry today?

One of the worst things while driving is people behind you who tailgate you, shine their hi-beams on you, and lean on the horn. If I had a nickel for every driver who blinded me I'd buy Trump Tower and move in tomorrow. I'm not a speed demon, but I'm not a slowpoke either. I'm conscious of the...

I like to cook, my wife likes to bake. At Christmas she makes a ton of cookies for our church, and I love how the house smells when she bakes bread.

    What made you angry today?

There are people out there who have no business driving. As long as it doesn't cause an accident or road rage, it will blow over.

Something doesn't add up. It seems ground beef would be the cause for being sick, if it's not cooked d good enough, or it was left out at room temperature where bacteria can grow. Chicken is harder to spoil because chicken nuggets or fingers usually come frozen. As a cook, we had to take a course...

There was one later episode where Rodney Dangerfield showed up for a few minutes of spiel. Nice tribute to the man who gave Tim Allen (and many others) his big break.

I wish they would make an Avenue Q movie

Some musicals work well in the intimacy of a small theatre, but don't translate well to the big screen. Fiddler on the Roof worked well. The Wiz did not. A number of tunes from Avenue Q showed up on YouTube. I got to see the show from front row center, so I was as close to the stage as you can...

Sorry to hear that. Years ago my sister lived in Petoskey, and when we came out to visit her, I fell in love with Vernor's. They sell it in the Midwest and down South, but not in the Northeast. So when I'm able to get some, I enjoy it because it doesn't exist out here.

One reason Home Improvement worked so well, goes back to the foundation of Tim's standup act: Men are pigs! Women understand relationships, romance, tenderness, and men understand tools, sports, and beer. Jeff Foxworthy once said a woman's mind is like an eight lane superhighway. Men's minds are...

Well, I'm a fan of ice cream, but I don't eat it every day. All I was trying to establish, if he likes the show, maybe even enjoys the show, but wouldn't call himself a fan, then what word would apply? Conneseur? Aficionado? What if you like Muppets but you don't write Fan Fiction, can you...
