    The Monkees General Discussion

Todd Rundgren started in Philly in the late 60s with a garage band called the Nazz. Only two minor hits. The ballad "Hello It's Me" and the rocker "Open My Eyes". Later he became a big time producer, including Joey Molland's Badfinger. Unfortunately they thought Todd was an overbearing a$$hole.

The New Am I The Only One Thread

In the first two seasons, whenever Bert got mad, his bottom lip scrunched all the way up to his nose. I can imagine Frank did this by making a fist, and pushing his thumb straight up.

The New What Made You Frown Today Thread

I had them all on DVD for years anyway, so if Disney decides to lock them in the vaults (which would be a stupid move), I got my copies. Disney used to do that as a marketing ploy. Especially with theatrical shorts and older features. "Buy it now before it goes back in the vaults, never to be...

    RIP Peter Fonda

I was just a baby when "Easy Rider" came out, but it gives a very good idea what the Sixties were all about. Little did Fonda, Dennis Hopper, and Jack Nicholson realize their low-budget biker film would become a classic.

    What made you angry today?

Actually, if you want a cuss fest, check out the 1976 movie The Bad News Bears. I saw it in the movies when I was eight. PG rated, starring 12 year old Tatum O'Neal cussing like a drunken sailor. Bad words don't make me recoil in horror. My dad and grandfather used to curse up a storm. I never...

The best poker game must have been, while Felix was having daughter Edna's birthday party in the living room, Oscar moved the poker game into his bedroom. I'm amazed everybody made it out of there alive.

In the movie version, Oscar's poker buddy Vinnie(short bald guy with glasses) was played John Fiedler, who Disney Buffs know as the voice of Piglet. the Odd Couple and M*A*S*H are the two shows I would've loved to play one hand with the cast. Deal me in.

Well, one guy who didn't know he'd be on tv: when Oscar was crossing the street, he starts following a young girl and almost gets run over by a green station wagon, there's a blind man on the curb with his white cane.

The cool thing about the Odd Couple tv show. Even though it was filmed on a Paramount stage (next door to the Brady Bunch) in Hollywood, it still screams New York. All the exterior shots help, but even without them, NewYork still comes screaming through the walls. One great Walter Matthau film...

Enjoying the films with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau: two Odd Couple movies, Grumpy Old Men, Grumpier Old Men, the chemistry between the two can't be beat. As good as Tony Randall and Jack Klugman were as the Odd Couple on tv, I think Lemmon and Matthau are just as good, if not better.

    The Monkees General Discussion

Do you know who else auditioned but didn't make the cut? One Charles Manson. Steve Stills didn't become a Monkee because of his crooked teeth. But he was good friends with Tork, and encouraged him to audition and Peter got the gig. They lived in Laurel Canyon. When the Monkees made it, Steve...

That is true, and I haven't had any telemarketers for a long time. But back in the early 200s, it was great sport to have a telemarketer hang up on you and reconsider his career options. Nowadays I'm more careful. Any number I don't recognize, who doesn't leave a message does not get called...

See? That's the object of the game. Get them to hang up on you. You won that round! Cheers! One time a telemarketer was trying to sell me vitamins. Halfway through her spiel I asked her if she took them. "No". "Then how do you expect anyone to buy something you wouldn't use yourself? That...

I feel bad for telemarketers. That has got to be the most thankless, dead end job out there, with people hanging up on you, being told no (or worse), and dealing with people like me.

I guess not. She did have a thick accent, so maybe her call center is somewhere overseas, and maybe she wasn't that well versed in American customs. Rule of thumb: If you're going to sell anything, you need to know your market.
