Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Well, if there was any more confusion with that book we could have had news by now, I still think it's on for a December 26 release.
Geez, the end of the year is really turning into a bit of a let-down.
I just checked the listings on my TV, Nick is listing an hour-long Zoey 101 and then two episodes of Home Improvement in The Muppet Movie's apparent time slot. I'll be watching of course but are you sure this is definite? I'll have to keep checking Nickelodeon every now and then for ads I guess.
Bad news guys...
I recently e-mailed the fine folks at Black Dog and Leventhal about the release date and they gave me this information:
I can understand a delay but changing the date less than two months before the book is due out seems a bit odd, no? :smirk:
You never really know. For instance, as much as I detest Hello Dolly (both the original stage musical and it's even harder to sit through film adaptation), it's over-the-top prominence in WALL-E has brought about interest in the show again. Heck, there are even talks for a new revival on...
Well, I'm not doubting that like many here. But if Disney wants to get the Muppets to a tween audience, wouldn't the best thing be to just put "The Muppet Show" back on TV? I know this must have been said before, but seriously, having great old re-runs is better than having bad new stuff.
I think most of us the forum have seen this puppetry done somewhere be it Avenue Q or when the Muppet performers do public appearances, what is the opinion around here on puppetry in which the puppeteer is holding out his character in front of him while he is completely visible?
For me, it all...
This... special... was... OK! Not good, not awful. Just OK. That's all I can really say right now. But hey, mediocre new Muppet stuff is better than no new Muppet stuff.
Looks like my Fraggle DVD's are going to have to find a new home. :smirk: Very disappointing, HIT.
BTW, will this complete series DVD retain all the bonus features from seasons 1-3? Moreover, the notebooks and artwork that came with them?
Well, I just got off the phone with HIT...
A solo season 4 set seems to be in place but the person I was on the phone with told me to contact Lions Gate about any release info on the sets. So here I go!
Best: Season 38.
Worst: Season 33. (the show was dumbed down so much it was practically unbearable)
They just get better and better with the format every season.
It has been confirmed to be on the upcoming MST3K 20th Anniversary box set. I can't wait!
I'm a bit peeved I can't make it to Comic Con, wish I could be there.
