Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I actually didn't even think of that one, Oscarfan! :) I'll definitely make a mental note of "The Muppets on Puppets" as a possibility but I want to see if anyone else has suggestions.
Inspired by a fellow MC member (Teenager's), I've decided to start a Puppetry Club at my school. If all goes according to plan, the club should be up and running by the end of January. For the inaugural meeting I figured that I would put together a simple Power Point presentation explaining what...
Not to bring up a dead thread, but my auditions for Little Shop were tonight (just came back!).
I got a new puppet a couple months ago primarily for these auditions (but for other reasons, too, but mostly that). I obviously brought him to auditions with me. I tried very hard to keep the puppet...
From what I understand, the footage of Fraggles and Sesame Muppets is safe from being cut. Henson and Sesame Workshop have no problem with the footage being used on Disney DVD's since they don't own the special anymore.
Jim, one more question. Forgive me if this has been asked, but did you ever get the opportunity to work alongside Jerry Juhl and did he ever end up teaching you a thing or two personally about the characters?
I used to watch the show a lot until about fourth grade (2001-2002 school year) with the format change. It really irked me and I stopped watching the current episodes on PBS. Don't get me wrong, I still stop by the Street every once in a while but with school and the fact that it comes on way...
Hey Jim!
Perhaps I should re-phrase the question. What I meant was is this book going to be leaning more towards the writing style of Before You Leap (chapters written in a self-help format) or It's Hard Out Here For A Shrimp (little 'nuggets' of wisdom)?
YES! Finally a widescreen DVD (hopefully)! There's no way we should pass this up. I hope the special features aren't all just kiddie stuff. :wisdom:
Perhaps Sony will do a 10th anniversary for Elmo in Grouchland this year if we're lucky.
In the UK, The Christmas Toy was released uncut as a bonus feature on the Muppet Family Christmas DVD. Look around the UK Amazon and eBay, you'll probably find it for a good price.
So has anyone managed to track this DVD down yet?
And BTW, it seems that Sisu Home Entertainment (the company that handles Shalom Sesame's distribution) is putting together a clothing line for Shalom Sesame, check it out here... http://www.sisuent.com/SesameClothing.html I have to admit, I...
Jim, I have a question about The Diva Code... if you can't answer this that's fine but I was just wondering if the format of the book going to be like Before You Leap or like It's Hard Out Here For A Shrimp?
Bumping up this thread to mention that the shirt is on sale as of now. It's only only $19.99! Even with shipping, that's cheaper than the 80s Tees stock with shipping!
Greg, do you have any info with the issue on the cut Kermit scenes for The Christmas Toy? Did the Hensons even try to get permission for the scenes or was there 0 effort toward it?
As for me personally buying these DVD's, I'm pretty sure I want Emmet under the tree this year. :D But Christmas...
Jim,
Perhaps as a fellow writer, can you talk a bit about the thought process of putting a new character in a pre-existing universe is like? After all, this happens with the Muppets all the time.
