Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Here's an old e-mail sent to Tough Pigs about what Disney owns:
"In this transaction, Disney purchased all titles with Muppet content. This includes from television the three main Muppet series (Muppet Show, Muppets Tonight, Muppet Babies), the Muppet-related segments (but not the Storyteller...
I looked around the web, and yes, this appears to be correct. And the DVD is in widescreen no less! I believe this is the first time the movie has even been seen in widescreen stateside. Hopefully all the bonus features will be retained and make this double dip worthwhile.
Quest for Camelot - Yes, this movie is pretty bad but I think people are just slightly too hard on it. Warner's first real attempt at an animated features which tries to combine the best of both worlds (the 1990's Disney musical and Warner Brothers' own trademark Looney Tunes comedy) and there...
It bored the heck out of me as a kid but now I've grown to appreciate it a lot more. One of Sesame Street's true classic productions. Not really big on laughs as much as Big Bird in Japan is but still a great travelogue. Mostly because it's so distinct from what we see on the show it works well...
I was thinking about Muppets Tonight today and really began to realize Kermit was downplayed quite a bit. Only showing up once or twice per episode. Steve had already performed the character quite a bit in two movies and a bunch of TV stuff and he was definitely around to do Rizzo so was the...
There was actually, a CD version was released in 1993 by BMG Kidz and sold horrifically (less than 200 copies sold apparently) but is still near-impossible to find for a rational price.
So, I don't own a Blu-ray player and doubt I will for a while. I feel a bit conflicted when it comes to Blu-ray/DVD combo packs, perhaps someone who owns one of these sets can help me out. Are Blu-ray/DVD combos worth the money I don't own a Blu-ray player or should I just pass and get the DVD...
Well, it seems that we missed LionsGate's announcement for their monthly Henson release. For October, we're getting a new DVD of The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss episodes plus re-issues of two of the Sony releases...
Wha? Suzie Q as in "popular-for-5-seconds-in-88" Suzie Q? From that episode of Full House where DJ and Kimmy Gibbler skip school to get her autograph? Woah, that's the first time I've ever heard of her outside of that.
How could I forget about Bamboozled?
Spike Lee's critically maulded but underappreciated satircal film. Combining extreme comedy elements with bitter truth, Lee put together a fantastic and thoughtful film on the representation of African-Americans in the media. I'm not even black but this is...
Yup, guess which beloved cartoon character is getting a live-action movie this time? Guess.

"What's up doc?" indeed. :mad::rolleyes:
Interesting. Never would have thought they'd hold onto that. I do know Disney owns Bunny Picnic, back when they first bought the Muppets they noted that special as one of the specials they were getting the rights to.
Can anybody else believe it's been five years today since the first season of The Muppet Show came out on DVD? I still remember doing to buy it on release day like it was just yesterday the summer before eighth grade. Insane how time goes by like that.
I would say there is a small, small realm of continuity in the Muppet universe consisting of the "actual" events of The Muppet Movie, The Muppet Show, It's a Very Merry Muppet Chirstmas Movie and maybe Muppets Tonight and MuppeTelevision. But everything other than that is just it's own world.
