Jim Henson - voted 5th 'best children's TV voice'

Well, remember, the poll was being conducted in England, and so they've probably got a different set of favorites there. But it is very good to see that Jim made the cut...and I'm glad that Peter Sallis was listed too. I really like Wallace and Gromit.

    The RHLC!

(up in heaven) Jim: All right, Richard, Jim Lewis apologized. Now put the water balloons away. Richard: (good-natured sigh) Rats. (puts full water balloon, with several others, in a metal tub marked 'Subtle Reminders.') Sure, we know Richard was really kind to Jim Lewis, but I don't think he...

    The RHLC!

Oh, by the way, interesting dream last night. In between some plot about having to make a cake for a former teacher, having to draw out a family tree and watching some guy get wiped out on a surfboard, there was some Muppet stuff. I remember there was some chat about Sam the Eagle, and at one...

    The RHLC!

Yeah, I put that in 'cause I'm still not exactly sure what Richard's voice type is. To my ears, for the most part, he sounds like he's on the low end of the tenor range, and he can hit all the high and low notes...but on the FR documentary, his voice sounds a lot different, and noticeably...

    The RHLC!

Yeah, Richard the cackler. He's got a laugh like a machine gun...a curly-haired, somewhere-between-a-tenor-and-a-baritone machine gun. The cackles, giggles and groans were flying fast and furious in that one scene. "He was the pillage idiot!" (chorus of boos) And I don't know what Jerry read...

    Dreams!

Only just found that last one, Sara. Holy cow...that's really haunting, with the whole theme of lost, found (and maybe lost again). And I shudder to think who the DOA was. But at least you were in the ambulance with him, holding his hand and all that.

    The RHLC!

Oh, yeah. He's only 19, the new kid on the block, but he's holding his own with the pros. And he gets to head off the rendition of "Hut Sut Ralston." And let's face it, all of those jokes are real groaners, the kind you'd hear on Veterinarian's Hospital.

    My Richard Hunt Tribiute

Excellent, very well done. Richard would approve. I certainly like the photo you chose to end it, the one of Richard and Scooter looking at the camera with identical open-mouth smiles. ;)

I'd have to look it up, too. Then again, people today might simply mistake it for a catchy little tidbit of scat singing. That joke about "violins on television" was awful. Liked the way Richard had his puppet turn slowly toward the camera with a wincing grimace on its face...during the first...

    The RHLC!

It went well...only one class today, and that professor taught the class wearing an Easter bunny suit. For details see the "What Made You Smile Today" thread. (snicker) I noticed that you could play the Ed Sullivan sketch on a show today, and it would still get lots of laughs. It's timeless...

Muppet College Dorms: The Next Semester

Storyteller: For Lou, we got a shawl spun out of Toe-Tickler cocoon silk, a music box that plays the song of the Ancient Fraggles, and a copy of "Why Everyone Should Love a Wimp." Nora: For Kate, one shawl made from the same material, but in a silly creature's size, one set of candles with a...

    The RHLC!

I think that was a different Jane, Jim's wife. The other Jane (Richard's mum) appeared in the chaotic cafe scene in TMTM, but I think that's her only active participation in the Muppet productions. The rest of the time she was the loyal fan and one of the team moms.

    The RHLC!

I know...he certainly sounds like the eager-eyed kid in that conversation. "...and I think they liked me!" And about 12, 13 years after her son appears as an assistant on the Ed Sullivan Show, Jane gets drawn into the Muppet antics during TMTM. I'm willing to bet Richard just called her up one...

    Hensonville Histories.

Yeah, but I wrote it a while back, so it's going to be buried way back in the lineup. I've been working on another fanfic, but it's on the back burner until pretty much the end of the semester. Between three huge papers, an art project and a prose/poetry portfolio, plus daily assignments and...

The 'What Song Are You Currently Listening To?' Thread

"She Blinded Me With Science," by Thomas Dolby. Weird song, and fun. Wonder if he did a bit of this one on Ghost of Faffner Hall?

    The RHLC!

Yeah, that's a real heady feeling for a fresh-faced kid from north Jersey. Five or six years later, Richard was channeling that heady feeling into a red-haired, green-jacketed kid named Scooter. He who most prominently displays the comprehending nod...and back home, Jane was watching it all...

Hmm, hmm. Well, if you're shooting for an artistic bent, a possible question would be: Would you say that the Muppets owe more of their style to traditional puppetry, or more to slapstick comedies of previous centuries? (Personally, I think the Muppets can trace a few of their roots to old...

    The RHLC!

Yeah, and when you consider he's now the same size as the little creatures he spent much of the first few seasons trying to thump (though it seems to me that relations evened out a bit around season 4)... Ah, yes, the Richard Hunt head-tilt. If you're not sure if a character is one of...
