Indeed, the good old days weren't always good, lol.

Well legal just means legal, not moral or appropriate. A lot of awful things have been legal in this country and even today there are questionable things that have the law on their side. I won't completely condemn him because he's from an earlier time. But had he and his wife married today at...

Exactly, perfect example! Seinfeld knows his craft. I get the impression Richardson was in over his head and panicked. I doubt he was actually racist and it's a shame his career was ruined. Again, I don't have a stake in this, I wasn't a big Seinfeld watcher. I just dislike the witch hunt...

And yeah such an attitude does not always go over well with hecklers at a comedy club. You can't let them know they're actually bothering you. Or if you do, you have to make it amusing.

The whole Michael Richards thing, to me it's the perfect example of just because you're a comedic actor doesn't mean you know how to do stand up comedy. A few years ago, I went to see a different comedic actor attempt a stand up routine (won't mention his name) and he made a lot of jokes that...

Yes, it is everyone's right to be offended. I won't disagree with that. I just disagree with a witch hunt mentality, particularly when it's propelled by the media. And particularly when there are real problems in the world beyond who's hot and who's not in Celebrity La La Land, lol.

The Pope is trying to be more diplomatic than his predecessors and that's good, though I don't see big, significant changes happening any time soon. Frankly I think American Catholics have no idea how totally different our mentality is compared to the Vatican.

Yes, I will grant you he is a chauvinist. That kind you find at your family gatherings who thinks it's hilarious to make fun of his wife while she's sitting right there. I'm sure guys like that really do love their wives, but I never can understand why they think such behavior is OK.

No, it isn't and no we shouldn't. And again I'm not defending this guy so much. It's not like I watch the show every day, I really could care less. I just care about the rights of Americans to be able to speak without being terrified the "Death Camp of Tolerance" is going to start banging down...

It's not a ruse when he really did marry his wife when she was 16 and he was 20, lol. Like I said, I don't approve of marrying someone that young, clearly it's inappropriate. For that matter I'm not sure marrying at 20 is that much better! But it's also clear society's standards used to be...

That's a valid point. What happened is we simply replaced one set of bad behaviors with another set and then declared the problems all fixed.

His wife was 16 when they got married (he was 20). That used to be more acceptable decades ago. Thankfully most of society has moved on from that. On that issue, I'd probably tell Mr. Robertson to get with the 21st century, lol. :p

Sadly I get the impression people are just used to Africa having problems. But people actually fell for the idea for awhile that Russia was progressing as far as human rights, heh.

Isn't that the major criticism given to Christianity? That's it's based in fear of punishment and fire and brimstone? I'm simply telling you I agree, those aren't good reasons for doing the right thing.

Yes, forgiveness from God, if they honestly want it. But if they're only apologizing because they're afraid they'll get in trouble it doesn't mean very much.
