Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Yes, "Family" show. I was thinking "Children's" because that's usually how it's ignorantly categorized...and at first I didn't say "half-hour" but then I realized I was competing it with the also-fantastic SS, so I decided to specify a bit to to make it easier. lol :o
You've got some catchin' up to do!!
And one of my favorite things about Fraggle books is how they have these cute little cave creatures in the pictures that are fun to spot. :)
^^^LOL!
He's never "sniffed me out" before, but on the rare occasion I get to catch the show, I love the "What's that smell?" part---it always makes me giggle, lol!
Really!
It does!
:D
I can't believe no one else has responded to this yet. I LOVE Fraggle books.
Really!
I do!
:excited:
"The Radish Day Jubilee" is indeed superb...I have most of that series, and I love how they're so well-written and and in-depth, so that they're long enough to picture as actual episodes...
I'd like to get these if that darned SNL material wasn't all over the discs. :p
Nothin' against SNL, but when it comes to the Land of Gorch, I'd like to have Gorch skits and nothin' else.
LOL, that was great!
I loved Wendell too...he's so dim and loveable, just like Goelz's future Beauregard. "Fifty cents, fifty cents...what's half of fifty cents?" Teehee! :D
I see that, but I mean, why was this so? Was Marilyn a puppeteer and couldn't make the tapings, so Frank puppeteered Alice for her and Marilyn recorded her lines later, or was Marilyn just a voice actress with no puppeteering experience but they wanted her voice so they got Frank to puppeteer...
It sure is, Phil. I'm just sorry I've missed out on it for nearly a decade all because of a false impression/wrong expectations.
By the by, does anyone know why in outtakes from it, Frank is performing Alice? Did he actually puppeteer her and then the lady recorded her voice to his puppetry...
Really!
I do!
:D
I tried it once when I was like 18 or 19, and just couldn't get into it. I turned it off and haven't gone back since. I think it was just different than what I expected it to be. But, one of my dear friends recently sent me a DVD of "Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas" and...
Yup, even more things inside me about this project...I've just been not wanting to think about it very much in the first place that I haven't reflected on everything that worries/upsets me about it, but you definitely hit some other nails on the head.
And since I was so scarred with "Narnia"...
Well, when I get so kindredly close with something, I get very apprehensive of future projects concerning it and what changes there may be.
Case in point: Narnia. Those are my favorite books, I've loved them since childhood and am so closely connected with them, and I was so deeply...
