Speaking of seasons 4 and 5, Muppet Wiki's Facebook posted this 2 years ago on the 8th anniversary of Season 3's release:
All 24 episodes of The Muppet Show's 4th season playing at once. Cool, huh? I just hope they do one with all 24 episodes of the 5th season playing at once.
I did. It went okay, he didn't tell me his name, and he couldn't tell me an update on the Seasons 4 and 5 DVDs, neither any other info. He barely could help. But he did say the company is willing to release classic material still.
I was talking to one of the employees of The Muppets Studio on the phone a few minutes ago, and he told me that the company/Disney could be willing to put the money from the newer Muppets projects from now and in the future into putting their classic material (i.e. Tales from Muppetland, all 120...
I’m also willing to blame the lack of new Muppet DVD releases on the failures with Muppets Most Wanted and the 2015 Muppet series on ABC and especially the all-too-fickle fools that claim to be Muppet fans but refuse to support them, being oblivious to the fact that newer projects like those...
They'll possibly give all of those shows the time of day, but seasons 1, 4, and 5 of TMS will have to be edited if the rights are just expensive, and episodes in the last two seasons featuring guests who passed away may have to be skipped if the estates refuse to give Disney permission.
We can't forget TMS, MT, TM2015, and that new Muppets series! I mean, the 3rd mentioned show was produced for ABC, a Disney owned network, and the 4th mentioned one was gonna be in production at some point.
TMS=The Muppet Show
MT=Muppets Tonight
TM2015=The Muppets (2015)
Thanks for that explanation. Let's also hope that when Disney+ launches next year, we can get a chance to see that new Muppets series as a chance for the characters to become more popular. I also hope the Muppets catalog will be avaliable on there, including the stuff that never got released on DVD.
