Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
A couple of amusing lines from Cookie and Chris, but otherwise "meh."
Remember when the adults were supposed to be smart? Chris made a gingerbread house already so he should already know what would work.
Weird seeing "Holiday Lights" reused like that, especially since they dubbed over Caroll's vocal (why?) and replaced the shot of Baby Bear's family.
Nice seeing Baby Bear and his family though. It was cute, maybe a little too focused on Elmo and not both him and Baby Bear.
I don't recall where I originally heard this, but I think the "nose/body part removal gag" is considered "dismemberment" and the newer research folks think it might be inappropriate for today's youth.
There's two I think that are lacking because of an incomplete doc. There's also the chance that the docs are missing some things but we can't tell unless we see the TV episode.
Long story short: we were told it was lost, but that might have been just a search/database goof. The document we had wasn't (isn't) reflective of the actual episode beyond the street stuff.
There were a couple of amusing moments (Chris makes for a better low-key straightman than the whole "WHAT THE HEY!" thing he usually does), but there was an awkwardness to the whole thing that probably came from the editing. Issa Rae was so wooden too.
Not sure what the deal was with Elmo and...
Technically, we've had one. It's just not 100% guaranteed reflective of the final edit. And it's one of the lost episodes apparently, so that kinda puts a damper on things.
