Post pics of your new Whatnots

Honestly I was a bit disappointed with my Whatnot last year- for whatever reason, materials used, or the construction methods, the mouth on my orange Whatnot was pretty badly made and not up to professional standards. I understand that in one sense, these are toys and are much more affordable...

Any word on a seperate Complete Season 4 release

I guess I'm out of the loop- what's happened to the rights for Fraggle Rock? I thought Henson retained rights to it all along. Or is this just distribution rights or something?

Any word on a seperate Complete Season 4 release

Has there been any word on Season 4 being released seperately on DVD? I figured that there wouldn't be any mention of it before Christmas but possibly after.

Your Thoughts: Street Gang – The Complete History of Sesame Street

Street Gang- My review- SPOILERS I have mixed feelings about this book. For those that haven't read it, I'd say close to 75% is backstory of the people involved with getting the show on it's feet and gathering the significant funding. This means there are significant bios on Directors...

Original Muppet Whatnot Workshop now off-line

Here are some pics of the Whatnot that a friend in New Jersey was kind enough to go to the effort of getting for me. I asked that he be sent without the eyes and nose attached, though as I said in a previous post, it wasn't as easy as I expected to get them on right. A few of the pics have an...

Original Muppet Whatnot Workshop now off-line

Thanks to a friend in NJ who was kind enough to go to FAO and order it for me, I just received my Whatnot today. I had asked them to put the hair on but leave the eyes and nose off, to alleviate any worry that it would be done badly. The downside to this, is that if I screw it up, it's my fault...

Original Muppet Whatnot Workshop now off-line

Can any of our experienced puppet builders answer a question for me? I'm noticing that on all the whatnot pics I've seen, the mouth doesn't close well. There is usually a gap of inner mouth showing on one side or the other. What is this most likely due to? A mouth plate with too many layers of...

Original Muppet Whatnot Workshop now off-line

I understand that the kit is intended for you to be able to test combinations, however, it's real intention is to be used as a gift, so that as a gift giver, you are not simply saying to the recipient "Here, go to this site and pick what you want". However, the explanation at this link...

So I'm confused. I thought if you ordered the kit, you would then mail it in to complete your order. Now it looks like you order the kit, and then you still either have to go into the store, or wait until Feb to complete the order online. Is that correct? Are you able to do this over the phone...

Original Muppet Whatnot Workshop now off-line

I'm intrigued by the idea of leaving the features off to glue them on myself. Originally I didn't care, but I just keep thinking that I could easily do it and that would eliminate any worry I have over slightly off placement. Has anyone asked for the features left off, in a phone order? I had...

Original Muppet Whatnot Workshop now off-line

Yeah thatks for the video Labrat. Excellent designs that really evoke the Henson style. And great puppeteering work. I will say based on the pictures I've seen that I'm very happy with the placement of the features- in fact that first puppet of yours Labrat is exactly the combination I've been...

Original Muppet Whatnot Workshop now off-line

I noticed that the Whatnots have a head with a neck sleeve that is seperate from the body, allowing the head to turn without automatically moving the body. A nice feature that I would not have expected! More finished pictures please!

Hot glue sounds cheap but I think it would be a better solution for the overall look than velcro. Velcro would create either a very noticeable gap between parts or a hold that wasn't very strong and especially parts like noses could flop off while the puppet was being performed. An...

Original Muppet Whatnot Workshop now off-line

A good example of what could go wrong in terms of parts placement: If you select the "bald fringe" for your puppet, the digital mockup shows the fringe running along the top of the puppets head, like a sideways mowhawk. Of course I assume this is an error, but there's always the chance that it's...

Original Muppet Whatnot Workshop now off-line

I am totally excited about this, but also wary about the final product. Fortunately I won't be ordering mine until closer to Christmas so that will give me some time to see others photos of what thier Whatnot looked like upon completion. My concerns are the same as listed above- namely the...

Bizarre/Scary Vent Dummy at JC Penney

Well it's funny, I mean none of those other ventriloquist dummy's that they sell are really known to kids today, but at least they are famous dummies (from the past), but yeah, Carol Channing. And I love that they really got the dated clothing. The Vermillion pantsuit and Dorothy Hamill hairdo...

Bizarre/Scary Vent Dummy at JC Penney

Ok, well that didn't work. Go to JC Penney's Home page http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/default.aspx and do a search for Ventriloquist. You'll see it.

Making the "Yip Yip" Martians from SS

Has anyone tried to make replica's of these puppets? As my mechanical skills are better than my sewing skills, they seem like they would be fairly simple to make. I probably won't in the near future due to other obligations, but the idea has entered my mind and I wonder if anyone has tried.
