Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I have a whole list of mad "things are related" theories. But first, to reply to yours....
- Uncle Deadly and Blind Pew do look reasonably alike. They're both blueish maybe-dragons.
- I think Louis is more rodent-like than Whatnot, and don't think he's related to One-Eyed Jack. But you can't...
Hmm, Beaker is looking very... un-green. (Usually his shirt, tie and labcoat are all shades of green. But they're black/white here.)
Not easy being green. Haha. Beat all you witty people to the bad punchline.
EDIT: What is with this board and its refusal to keep font-size formatting? (I set...
So, when will the series be on TV? (I gather that this is a set seasonal announcement of the shows that will be on at a particular time of year.) I have no idea about American TV scheduling.
Also, the pilot episode just becomes Episode 1, right?
The 'silly sound' one is just adorable!
And when I tried to play the Mothers Day one, it said "not available in your country" so I was worried that they had made all the videos America-only or something. Glad to see that's not the case.
Haha cute.
Once all the clips air, I'd love to see "bonus content" of the entire conversations with the kids instead of the broken-up-into-topics version. (I guess with enough time and patience it could be reassembled from the clips, too... I love the idea of trying that though I know I'd...
He's also sweet and eager-to-please and.... I could see him getting along well with a girl who has a similar sort of personality. (And since her parents are apparently going to be characters too, I can see him stressing out over having to meet them and worried about making a good impression.) At...
The thing is, those characters aren't from shows that Jim worked on, so it doesn't really make sense for them to pay tribute in the same way. (Actually it bugs me that new creations by the Henson company are still being tagged "Jim Henson's ______", because they're not.)
I haven't seen any of...
(I really enjoyed reading through this!)
My auntie's previous house was pretty old and it had a hole in the corner of the bathroom floor. (A floorboard must have snapped and the lino was sinking in. You couldn't see anything through it, just darkness.) Absolutely the perfect kind of thing for a...
"Meet the Muppets" makes sense to me. It's a callback to the old theme song, and fits with the "look behind the scenes and meet the actors" approach they seem to be taking.
I'm glad they've fixed the audio on these videos. It was annoying having the sound coming only from one side. It was weird that they didn't have it right to begin with; it seems like something basic for a professional video.
On the latest video - Sam seems like an odd choice to be interacting...
The thing with Walter is - he's Peter Linz's only character at the moment. The new series will be a chance for a few things - Walter settling in to a role in the troupe; introducing new characters (whether recurring or one-shot); bringing back old characters that need new puppeteers....
Disney is exactly why it's "that bad"..... (and yes I realise your post is satire!)
Their track record at handling the ending has included leaving Pooh abandoned forever (changing the ending narration to "a little bear will always be waiting" instead of a boy and a bear playing - DO YOU...
I love the idea of him hanging around and appearing occasionally when it suits the situation.
I'm picturing it a bit like his "hacking the Snuffy Awards" bit. "Here I am in evil lair... okay it is theatre broom closet." He wouldn't want to interact with the others or go on stage (maybe secretly...
Puppets would make sense. They're toy animals to begin with (except, from memory, Rabbit and maybe Owl) so they don't even need to be realistic creature puppets.
...now I want to see a proper puppets-and-live-action adaption of the books. Wouldn't that be lovely?
You're welcome!
Also every time I see the topic title I want to sing. "God's not dead (clapclapclapclap) He is alive!"....anyone else? Is that a common song? Just Salvation Army? Just me? (Can't remember any lyrics beyond repeating that phrase a few times...)
Happy Easter everyone. The pastor at church this morning had a wonderful story / mental image in his message today about a child, having been asked what was the first thing Jesus did after coming back to life, said that he would have come out of the tomb and shouted "TA-DAH!" (And then he...
Disney and Winnie-the-Pooh and "grown up Christopher Robin" makes me cringe. Every time they've adapted the final chapter of the book* they have handled it badly. Different people in charge every time probably, but it doesn't give me a great amount of hope for it.
* in the final chapter of the...
