If God had wanted you to put your truck in the garage, he never would've invented driveways. ;)

    My Puppets on The View

I idn't think the puppeteering was terrible -- at least none of them stared off into space. The biggest problem was lipsynch, but even that wasn't terrible. I hope this generates a lot of business for you!

    My Puppets on The View

That's is super cool! Did they contact you about getting puppets or did you send them inon your own? I'm always curious about how people that do what we do get discovered. I'm sure we all have some crazy stories.

    My Progress

Very little green screening on this project. I'm very old-school when it comes to this. I may even have the spaceships operated like puppets. ;)

    My Progress

Did you have a set fall down on you? Yikes! Mine's pretty sturdy right now, but it'll be a lot sturdier when it's done. Like a dome, it wants to fall in on itself, so each section holds the next one up. It'll also be tied into the rafters when it's done. Maybe I'll incorporate hard helmets...

    Fixing Abused Puppets

There is a way to make smashed foam relax back into its original shape. All you need is a steam iron (a regular iron that has a steam setting). What you do is shoot the hot steam at the foam in quick bursts (be careful not to hit your hand -- it will burn you). The hot steam will cause the...

    Sock puppet arms

There are patterns for sock puppet arms in John Kennedy's Puppet Mania! Book. http://www.amazon.com/Puppet-Mania-John-Kennedy/dp/1581803729/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1267810588&sr=8-1

    Photographing Antron Fleece

I always turn off the flash and use a tripod. When the picture is taken, make sure you hold the puppet as still as possible. The other thing besides the shiny Antron that really gets me about most puppet photography is the amount of bad poses that end up being taken. One thing that a...

Is This the Fur Used for Abby Cadabby?

But -- if it works for you, I say use it. Just because it;s what the Muppets do, doesn't make it the only way to do it.

    Bunsen Honeydew mouth

My plan was to make it out of scott foam then cover it in fleece. It's all very theoretical at this point. Here's the character I want to build: http://www.melonpool.com/?p=5891 My thought would be that her mouth would look better as a Honeydew type of mouth as opposed to the regular Kermit...

    Bunsen Honeydew mouth

I haven't started yet. I would think that it should be patterned open (since it's easier to close a mouth than open it). My thought would be that it would have a much larger mouth palette behind the skin of the puppet, but they would be joined at the lips. I don't know if I'm on the tight track...

    Bunsen Honeydew mouth

Actually, what I meant was what the inside looked like. I've tried in the past and the mouths never seemed to work right. I'm pretty used to using "D" shaped pieces of gasket rubber that are gaff taped together for the mouth palette. This creates a mouth similar in construction to Fozzie Bear's...

    Bunsen Honeydew mouth

Has anyone ever had any success making a Bunsen Honeydew-type mouth? Most of the puppets I've made have been more of the Kermit type mouth palette style that opens and closes, but I was thinking about trying more of the "Slit in foam" type on a few new puppets. Anyone know what the...

What Kind of Fleece Should I Use?

Just buy plenty of it. I have never been able to find two bolts of polar fleece that were exactly the same color.

    My Progress

So, I've been working on a rather large puppet project for the last few months after doing practically nothing puppet related for the last few years (other than designing the recent round of Nike puppets, anyway). I thought I'd share the first bit of "leaked" test footage with you guys...
