Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
It's exciting, but there was also something about the whole Muppet portion of the trailer that felt "off." Maybe it's the fact that the only original Muppeteers involved are Whitmire and Goelz?
The walking thing is probably an attempt to mimic Mr. Henson's desire to one-up himself with each of the original Muppet films. Kermit's bike ride in The Muppet Movie to the crazy multi-muppet ride in The Great Muppet Caper and the swimming sequence in the same film.

UGH! Come on, Henson Company! It's been five years since the announcement. Jim Henson was doing a thousand things at once, and he finished his fantasy masterpiece in that time.
Interesting! Thank-you. Yeah, I didn't think it sounded much like Henson to want to do a re-hash. He was all about new things, always moving forward, always trying something different.
Honestly, I'm envious of the guy! It's like seeing a visual representation of the "Rainbow Connection" song, living a childhood dream. Can't wait to see this film.
Thanks! I look forward to hearing what you find. And if you find nothing, either A) The Jim Henson talks were private or B) There were no talks, and the company was trying to justify to fans why a sequel will be made.
Not that it needs justification. I remember being a little kid...
I've heard rumors that the TDC sequel is based off of conversations between Henson, Froud, and the screenwriters. Is there any credibility to these claims? I've been searching for sources... I'm really interested to find out what Jim Henson was planning before TDC flopped (if anything).
It's interesting, but it's also wrong. Skeksil is a manipulative, power-hungry jerk who cares only for himself. The whole point of the split between races is that all of the good went into the Mystics and all of the bad went into the Skeksis. Even when a Skeksis does something that can be...

Posted August 15th 2010. Mere speculation, or is there validity to these claims?
Really? I love TDC, and I had no idea there were additional deleted scenes. What sort of things have they mentioned?
Gah. I know what you mean. I don't get the studio politics that restrict certain things from being released. I can understand if the quality is just abysmal, to the point of...
I don't know what DVD you picked up, but the one I have has the deleted scenes and work print stuff...
Something from Frank Oz, or any of the other muppeteers who participated in the film's creation (Steve Whitmire, Dave Goelz, Jerry Nelson) would be nice.
This is true. The similarities between DC and TRON are purely superficial, in that they are from around the same time period, and they have sequels in production/already made several years after the originals.
As for Avatar... I feel more like Avatar is like DC rather than DC being like Avatar. ;)
I was reading an interesting post on IMDB. The poster was speculating that the production team behind DC2 were waiting to see how Tron: Legacy performs at the box office. The film, like DC2, is a sequel to an 80s scifi/fantasy.
I don't know, it's complete speculation, but it's an interesting...
