    Ask Florence Henderson

On Florence Henderson's official web site, there is a section where you can ask Florence any question you like, so I decided to ask her some questions about her TMS appearance, and I've only just received the answers, so I thought I'd share them with you. Q: How were you approached to do in...

    Dr. Bob and Mr. Rowlf

Dr. Bob sounds a bit funnier than Dr. Rowlf.

    Who is he????

What's the line? The only "singer" that I can think of off-hand who has a very deep voice is Rowlf when he sings the line "Oh there are bugs and there are lice."

    Muppets & Purple Tuxes??

It's explained in the Muppet Morsels section on the Disney DVD of TMS Season One. Can't remember off-hand though why they used purple.

    Oscars & Jerry Juhl

Is it just me or was anyone else disappointed that Jerry Juhl was omitted from the In Memoriam section of the Oscars? While he is mostly remembered for his TV work, he did co-write the screenplays for the various Muppet Movies and should have been recognaised as such.

Still waiting for answers to these "Muppet Show" questions

This is hard to answer but they were mainly "stock" characters, but Mahna Mahna did play a person from Hawaii, Lenny the Lizard played a character from an Asian country. Everybody except Gonzo. Even the band caught it and played the end theme as Chickens. From memory - Kermit, Fozzie...

    Le Muppet Show

Who said I was offended? Certainly not me. I thought that they would re-dub the singing voices, considering that most of the songs performed by the Muppets themselves had been re-dubbed and that this was the soundtrack for those who speak French. They re-dubbed the guests speaking voices so...

    Don Knotts (1924 - 2005)

Darn! I was trying to see if there already was a discussion on this news item but I couldn't find one.

    Le Muppet Show

They did get Aznavour to do it; I was most surprised at that. Interestingly, during the talk spot he speaks in English the line "Your oil is leaking and your transmission is sagging." He didn't re-dub his singing voice though. As far as I could tell, it didn't sound like an older Aznavour...

    Don Knotts (1924 - 2005)

TMS second season guest star Don Knotts has died at the age of 81. http://au.news.yahoo.com/060226/11/y1mn.html - Reuters http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060226/ap_en_tv/obit_knotts - Associated Press

    Le Muppet Show

They didn't dub Aznavour's singing voice but his speaking voice was dubbed. Have a guess as to who you think did it.

    Le Muppet Show

I wonder if they re-dubbed Charles Aznavour's singing voice? ;-)

    Rowlf

You could argue that he does appear in every episode of TMS. ;-)

    Manah Manah?

I found the answer on Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahna_mahna I wonder if Jim Henson knew what it really was? (Read the article and you'll understand.)

    Le Muppet Show

I think it's rather idiotic of you to make that comment, particulary when you consider that I DID expect them to overdub the guest stars singing so that it was also in French. If the show had been made in France and was being translated into English, wouldn't you expect everything to be...

After seeing the Sex and Violence pilot...

I'm sorry but the Sex and Violence pilot does not flow very well at all, not least of all because of the chop and change nature of it. Nigel is a rather boring host whereas Kermit had the potential to be a more well-rounded character. The Muppet Show flowed better as the sketches came to a...

    The Muppet Show Alternate Openings

You're all waiting for me to respond to this thread, aren't you? ;-) With regards to the First Season openings - when Television New Zealand played re-runs in the mid-1980's (under the banner The Muppet Show Command Performances) the ONLY first season episode not to have its proper opening...

    Le Muppet Show

Has anyone else tried watching their TMS DVDs with the French Soundtrack on? It's rather unusal and quite entertaining, not least of all because most of the French actors can't sing very well. In case you haven't listened to them - all of the episodes are dubbed in French but on occasion they...

    I noticed you're watching too...

Which seems highly unlikely; it's not unusal for film soundtracks to sometimes change things round with certain songs. There are quite a few differences with some of the songs/sketches on the first two Muppet Show albums compared with what was performed onscreen (eg both of Fozzie's monologues...

Guest stars who seemed to dislike being on the show

Who was the only guest star (in the context of the show) who sent the note with messenger boy Chris Langham?
