Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
It really sucks that they dropped the classic episodes. Anyways, it's still prominent on my station, so I don't think it's coming to an end. Even if it does, they'll still probably air reruns forever a la Clifford the big red dog. Seriously, that show hasn't made a new episode in 14 years and...
YES! This is exactly why I can't take Brian's words seriously.
If it were the mid-90s and Steve was being a terrible, horrible person who was ruining the muppets and was an awful performer, why not replace him? It had only been a couple years, the internet wasn't around. How many people would...
After tons of flip-flopping, I feel like I'm still siding with Steve on this. Disney wanted to shut him up and make him say he retired, but he decided to tell his story. I respect that.
I think you just answered your own question. If you didn't pay much attention to the puppeteers, it wouldn't matter much. I read Jim's bio and learned a lot about Steve and I almost felt like I was alongside them. I always imagined that the performers and everyone got along harmoniously, so it's...
I'm sure Frank wasn't happy with Steve performing Kermit or Ernie, but he still ended up doing it throughout the 90's, so he probably still respects him.
I think I'll stay away from the 90s-present muppet stuff for a while. Like @rexcrk, I feel a little uneasy thinking about what might have been going on backstage.
This is all just so sad. I really want to hear from Dave and Bill (and maybe even Frank) but I know that's not going to happen. Just...
"Henson granted an in-depth interview of his own in order to explain what actually happened from his perspective, even going as far to say that he should've let Whitmire go before selling the company to Disney in 2004.
"I have to say, in hindsight, I feel pretty guilty that I burdened Disney by...
I can understand what Lisa & Brian said about Steve, even if they didn't like him, at least they were professional about it. But Cheryl's statement on facebook still shocks me. I always imagined everyone in the muppet world as one big family. Guess I was foolish to think that.
The more I think about it, it's just super sad that the Henson Family loath Steve like that. One would think that they would be super close. Guess that's not the case.
Ugh, I don't know what to think anymore. At first, I was really sad for Steve, but then his kids come in and start bashing him. I feel like at the end of the day, Steve meant well though.
My respect for Cheryl Henson has gone from 100 to 0 in the span of like 5 hours. To post hurtful comments is one thing, but to then delete them and pretend you never posted them is worse. Just wow.
