Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
Definitely agree, Toy Story and even Toy Story 2 look very cheaply-made today despite being groundbreaking in their time. Same goes with Ice Age. That's really the problem with CGI, it evolves so rapidly that the films have an expiration date of 10-15 years before they no longer look pristine. I...
Really sad news about Blue Sky. It never became the juggernaut that Pixar or Dreamworks became but I always rooted for them. Sadly, it seems like only the Ice Age films made them good money and even the 5th Ice Age made considerably less than the others. It will be so strange seeing the upcoming...
I'm guessing all the cuts from season 1 will remain, season 2 and 3 should stay intact though. If they could get them released with no edits for a DVD, than I don't see why they can't have it on streaming. Not too sure about season 4 and 5 though. As I stated earlier, they'll probably do some...
Not sure if this is a record for number of regular performers for a muppet character but it feels worth noting that Statler has now had 4 performers.
Richard Hunt (1976-1991)
Jerry Nelson (1992-2003)
Steve Whitmire (2002-2016)
Peter Linz (2017-present)
Peter Linz seems to be doing a fine job...
I remember watching Wubbulous World when it aired on a PBS station about 10 years ago. Probably the worst decline in quality a show has had going from season 1 to season 2 that I've ever seen. It went from an engaging and adventurous storybook-esque anthology series to what was essentially an...
Very late response but I was also watching the Season 2 DVD last night and have to agree wholeheartedly. I know season 3 is usually considered the best one for understandable reasons but season 2 is honestly my personal favorite. So many great guest stars and skits. Not to mention that the...
I've been around this site since 2014 and it's nice that it's still around. It continues to be a great place to talk about muppet-related topics. Happy Birthday!
Sorta late but just had to pay my respects to Alex Trebek since I didn't catch this thread before. Been an avid Jeopardy viewer since I was 4 or 5 and Alex was always a mainstay. No matter how my life changed, he was always there providing clues and awarding cash prizes. It was tough watching...
I do wonder just how much they'll have to cut though. Like, will all the scenes removed from the season 1 DVD be included or remain excluded? I don't really mind either way because, at times, cutting a few parts actually made those episodes flow better.
Hard to tell with current social media culture. Of course, any minor backlash an episode or two receives will be countered by the fact that so many people will get to watch and enjoy the show for the first time.
Totally forgot about that guy and his episode. Pretty odd coincidence that all the episodes me, you, and OscarFan mentioned that could ruffle some feathers are from season 5.
Anyone want to place bets on which episode causes Twitter/social media uproar and gets pulled from Disney+? Since it'll be widely accessible for the first time in about 20 years, there's bound to be some sort of minor backlash. My guess is (if it happens) it'll be the Johnny Cash one since he...
This is amazing news. And yeah I'd prefer DVD releases of season 4 and 5 but that ship has sailed. I think just the fact that we're getting all five seasons on streaming is phenomenal.
Though one thing I am bracing for is for newcomers to start watching season 1 and then quit because of how...
Personally, I'm a fan of Very Merry Muppet Christmas. It has its flaws but I like the Muppet Show-esque style and the abundance of characters that were shelved during the 90's era. Far from perfect, usually due to the tedious human characters, but I find it rather enjoyable.
Most people are discussing the alleged sexism that comes with this article but I found this part a lot more jarring
"What quickly became apparent to those who worked with him was that Brian was not his legendary father — nor did he want to be. "He has hated puppeteers for his entire life," says...
Man, so many TMS guest stars have passed away in recent days. RIP to Helen and Mac. I mean it's understandable, the show came out 40+ years ago and people are going to age but it's still extremely sad to hear that a new one is gone.
Sadly, I have to agree. I haven't watched since the 3rd episode. I'll definitely check out 4-6 at some point but it's not really on the top of my to-do list. Compare that to the 2015 series where I would actively want to watch it the moment it was on.
I remember watching his videos a ton back in 2013 and 2014. I think he started reviewing the ABC muppet show episode-by-episode but then disappeared before he could finish.
