Blog Update - Tips that WORK

OMG - that's exactly what I'm doing! With a variation of course. My vinyl tubing is set in between 2 pieces of 'stiff felt' about the size of the palm so when the rod is inserted, it moves the whole hand. It's sandwiched in the felt and I first used hot glue but the tubing stripped free so, I...

Blog Update - Tips that WORK

When something progresses my puppet build, I'm ecstatic to pass along the tip. In my latest blog update [Jan. 19, 2009], I talk about two of these simple 'perfect' fixes [magnets and hairclips]. See link in my sig. I know there are a lot of tutorials and tips out there but, I'm curious to hear...

    Finger Puppets

Your descriptions are great. Great sense of humor. The puppets are adorable. I love their simplicity. Love candy is a fave and Victor the dog... is that eco felt normally that 'ratty'? - I LOVE the way it looks.

Taking Your Puppetry To The Next Level

Andrew - I hope you didn't misread my post. I'm all for putting in long hours for your craft. I agree, it is the best way to succeed. If anything, I have been consistent with working in the performing arts since I was 12. I'm sure you'd agree that anyone can benefit from a workshop/ class/ or...

Advice on Simple Series puppet mouth

Thanks Jomama! I'm starting to like the shirt more. It's kind of like she has on her little girl shirt and just threw on the tutu to play.

Taking Your Puppetry To The Next Level

Stacey - Thanks for your rambling. It hit a nerve for me and I almost wonder if this should be a separate thread. At 39, I'm far from college age or able to afford the time or money for long-term higher learning but, I am eager and able to tackle what inspires me creatively. I, too, wish that...

Advice on Simple Series puppet mouth

Thank you Rax. Yes - it is rather Marge Simpson-esque. I hadn't thought of that.

Advice on Simple Series puppet mouth

Thanks - it was loosely based on Sideshow Bob from the Simpsons and the Didi Pickles from the Rugrats.

Advice on Simple Series puppet mouth

Puppet fix and New Puppet Thanks all for your input. On the puppet in question, I cut out a new mouth plate and glued it over the offending stitches. After adding a final tongue, I think the puppet - Gustavo - looks great. http://davidmanley.com/blog/gustavonew1.jpg Over the last 2 weekends...

I'm going to be a puppeteer in Little Shop Of Horrors!

I'm so excited for you! I wish there was a puppetry club when I was in school [many moons ago]. I've come up against casting directors playing favorites in the past too and I think playing to your strengths and expressing your true passion [puppetry] will get you further and be much more...

I have completed the Farrah 2.0 puppet!

Brian - kudos on the stubble. Very inspired idea. What are you wigging your puppets with? Is it just a re-purposed halloween wig?

NEW BLOG for Jarrod Boutcher Puppets

As strictly a work of INCREDIBLE art - the villian is worth the money. I wish I could justify spending that much. Jarrod - your work is amazing as usual. Thanks for always inspiring.

Rumor: Avenue Q to end on Broadway

Can someone please confirm this? I know that the London Q is closing in March but have heard no immediate plans for the NY Broadway show. Reservations are still being taken through August 2009. I can't find any other information to support that the Broadway show is closing any time soon.

    SST 40th Anniversary Event

I never got a confirmation email. I kept checking my bank statement and the charge finally appeared a few days later and then the ticket followed in the mail shortly after. I would think it's more likely that you would get an email quicker if they couldn't fill the order.
