Hi all, been spotty about checking in here so only just now seeing this thread! Thanks everyone. It's been a weird year so far, but def better than last year (no hospital stays this year so far, at least).

It affects other things, though. My company hires almost no one without a degree; and even though this is the first office job I've ever worked, I was able to completely bypass the usual career track and go right into a more intensive department due to my degree and literacy level.

No chances? Why not? Maybe there just aren't enough jobs in the field in your particular city. Maybe consider saving up to move someplace where it's much likelier to find work suited to your degrees? Job markets change. For instance, my bro-in-law moved from CA to CO and now to WI: he's a games...

Some people are so insecure they delight in tearing down others who've done them no wrong. Sad, tiny minds.

None of the southern border states are up in arms about the "invasion" of illegals. Only white members of northern states with winter snowbird homes down south.

The follow-up: in quietly discussing it with my work partner, found out that his raise was less percentage-wise, even though he's been with the company far longer and is expert on far more things. Huzzah for budget-slashing. Naturally none of the CEOs took a pay cut.
