Totally agree, trouble has been its so long folks have forgotten the wider cast which prevented them putting up those characters. Stuff like D23 and the specials is doing great work to re-introduce them and hopefully make it possible again.
Even Gonzo on his own on AGT would have been fantastic.
This is a forum ... it encourages debating. You can't just stop debating, just because you might not like someones counter argument shouldn't stop them from making it.
I think the posts suggesting people contact Disney maybe did make a difference, at least to show there is an interested fanbase who notice these things. Maybe it won't change what they do, admittedly.
Well hopefully all the letters and calls helped Disney to see how much the fans appreciate Steve, i bet they weren't expecting all this.
Seeing as the movie is set to be released in 2010 i would imagine they are very late in pre-production for it or still doing stuff for the Disney Parks...
Well Jim's children sold them, twice ... so that ships sailed. Then again, obviously Jim was going to sell them himself to the same mega coporation at one point though he had his reasons.
I do agree with what you say about a slightly more relaxed film, and about how the Muppets do humour...
He was propogating negative gossip about a Muppeteer intentionally or not ... he never posted he knows this information first hand, and we hear his connection is with Sesame Live which is independant of SW so its hardly likely he has seen Whitmire throw a "diva strop" himself. He made the...
Yeah its a workplace like any other, especially with production companies .. people will talk and gossip, rumours will start. Sometimes true, sometimes baloney. I will say again though, i can't remember a single pre-announced appearance he has missed.
And one more thing, when you re-cast a Muppet like Kermit it's not even just about the Kermit voice or mannerisms .. but Kermit SINGS and Steve Whitmire is such an amazing, amazing singer. Kermit has dueted with some of the most famous and world renowned music artists. You may find a recast...
If the puppetry is beginner and the voice is off .. what do you have left? a hand? lol
I don't think he was like early Jim at all .. to me, thats a bit of an insult to Jim.
I can't tell a major difference between Jim and Steve. Sure the character is played in a slightly more extroverted way but other than that the personality and magic are there - it is Kermit. Same goes for Eric taking over Franks Muppets.
The new performer, it just didn't feel like Kermit at...
Yea i think i've mentioned it before but i'd think when Disney is trying to push the Muppets as this classic iconic brand being bought back that they can get a lot of promotional mileage out of billing the movie as the one Jim Henson started before he died. It's quite a nice little story to...
