    Arms length puppets

He's not finished yet. I did add a pair of glasses that I wore in "The Sound of Music" last year (somehow my puppets always seem to get something from my wardrobe!) and hopefully this weekend I'll get some sort of hair on his head. When I do, I certainly post a pic and let you know.

Yes, I only posted that image as a cautionary statement, not for exploitation of gratuitous violence. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

    MC Photo Gallery

I think that in general it is a very good idea, but it would require a fair amount of administration. Issues such as how long will items be left for display? and the like would have to be considered. Also the technical side of memory allocation and bandwidth and so on would need to be addressed...

    "Ardy" on ebay

A plug for Trent Folks, if you're even remotely interested in this item, trust me $150 is a fantastic price! Having built the same kit as Trent, I can vouch for the quality of materials, as well as the incredibly fine puppet that they create! As mentioned, to get the UNASSEMBLED kit costs $175...

Pictures of the process Well, as per Trent's request, I've posted a few pictures. They are mostly of the puppet during the various phases of contruction, culminating with a picture of the almost finished puppet. You can view the pictures at: http://home.mcn.net/~fantom/alp1.html Let me...

    Arms length puppets

Well, it sounds like a great day to be "across the pond"! I actually watched my videos several times before having the time to get down to business with the actual puppet. I spent Friday evening beginning the sewing, and then ALL day Saturday working on it as well. I got the basic puppet done...

    Ostrich Feather Boas

Bird Flu There have been cases of Bird Flu reported on the East coast, and so I would imagine that this would be the reason for the quarantine. And I just read of a case being reported in British Columbia as well, so there could be far-reaching implications as a result. In Asia, there have...

Legalities Trent- If you look at the cover page of patterns that came with your kit you'll notice it says: "Copyright entitles purchaser the right to use patterns for personal and/or non-commercial use only. Pattern may not be duplicated by any means. Patterns may not be used for...

    Ostrich Feather Boas

Arms, arms, arms Hey Trent, while you're at it, have you given any thought to arm rods for this guy? I must confess that thus far, I haven't had any brainstorms for the best way to approach them with the Arm's Length style. Alos, it seems pretty interesting to me that everyone who has...

    Arms length puppets

Looks Great! Hey, Trent! He really looks great so far! I haven't had any time to work on mine yet, as I have had rehearsals and performances this week (symphony, my vocal quartet, and opera chorus!) and have only been able to study the pieces a bit. But I'm really looking forward to...

What was your hardest puppet to make?

Martin P. "Marty" Robinson is the original creator/puppeteer of the Audrey II's in the original 1982 production of LSOH. he is also puppeteering in the current Broadway production. Back when I first performed the show, it was licensed through Samuel French, Inc. and if you were licensed to...

I Got My Kit Today! I just got home (9:45 pm) and on my doorstep was the Arm's Length kit. Of course I immediately opened it and gave a quick look-over to everything in it. This is definitely WOW caliber stuff! A complete set of patterns for the kit I chose, a detailed set of instructions...

What was your hardest puppet to make?

A Tough Puppet! I would have to concur with Buck that the #4 Audrey II is the most difficult puppet project I've embarked upon, even with Mr. Robinson's helpful manuscripts. Although the second time you build one is much easier than the first!

    Have you ever made.....

Another source to consider is Fran Dowie's book "Big is Beautiful". I used to have a copy of this book (be careful who you loan your books to, right?) and it has some pretty interesting ideas in it. I did a web-search for it and found it available at...

    Suggestions on good puppetry literature

Puppet Mania Today I picked up my copy of Puppet Mania. (I had to special order it) and it is quite a fun little book! One thing that it does have is a web address where you can buy not only the book, but kits for the banana puppets. Also you can get the book autographed by the author. So if...

Where's the cheapest place to buy "The Foam Book"?

Patterns True, while the book/video do not come with patterns, there are instructions for making your own. The 3 piece head method is a very simple concept that lends itself to many different variations, and several are suggested in both the book and video. You can dummy up a pattern in paper...

Well, we may have sun, good food, cool stuff to do, but you guys have the cool accents! We're just a bunch of uncultured boors over here. We spell it "check" and we also spell it "color" whereas "colour" is far more elegant! I do agree with you about keeping in touch with customers. I am a...

Let's Be Accurate! I don't enjoy waiting for my kit/video to arrive any more than anyone else, (gad, we ARE an impatient lot, aren't we?) but let's also be careful to be accurate with our posts. Reading this made me wonder how long its been since I placed my order...it seems like ages ago! But...

    Ostrich Feather Boas

Boy, here's an interesting thing. Sometimes these solutions can be so obvious that we never see them. Just for fun I typed in "ostrichfeathers.com" and guess what? A site that sells feathers, boas, fans, etc.! :)

    Ostrich Feather Boas

I think it might depend on your definition of "full". Out local JoAnn store does carry two types of boas, one being, I believe, turkey feathers. They are quite full (ie. "bushy") and about 6 feet in length. They also carry a thinner maribou boa in about the same length. The prices are actually...
