Another reason they was fused together was since the cartoon and the Ernie and Bert sketch both required something about the number 8. Or something like that.
For number 5, he was at the zoo and saw a ball to which he painted the vertical line and curve. Before he could finish a gorilla approached him, took the brush and finished the 5. And they walked if in harmony.
For 7 he was I believe at an elevator and succesfully painted a 7 on the doors...

My clock guess is that as the Honkers took the clock away when the baby honker did that little move before the crash, he bumped into the other Honkers causing them to drop the clock, then CRASH!
Is it when Ernie and Bert have 2 helium balloons, and Ernie worries about the balloons getting less beautiful so Ernie convinces Bert that they let the balloons free, the Ernie worries about the balloons getting lost and asks Bert if they can get the balloons back. This causes Bert to go bonkers...

I see. But what I also want to know was what body parts did Bennet (both monster and normal), Arlene (same category), and Cookie Monster guess?
By the way: what was the mystery part when Prof. Hastings was a contestent? I reckon he was still his usual boring self.
