Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
So if they did a Muppet road trip move in Australia they could call it "The Muppets Down Under" which would be quite funny in puppetry terms lol
Yeah i totally see all the original 3 Muppet movies were all old classic showbiz cliches. Many of the writers of those were really into all that...
When i read the plot I did think it sounded very much like parts of VMX. Obviously it was quite some time ago when the Muppets weren't at their peak so I guess Disney are pretty sure that the mass public won't get the parallels, and anyway, this is a new start for the Muppets (i guess) and much...
Nmac .. and so you should be proud. One of the best childrens series and characters in many many years. Fantastic work from all involved, which gave lots of little ones much enjoyment, and quite a few "big ones" too lol.
It would be fabulous to see Bear cameo in a Muppet production...
Yeah i think they will have to do something else this year, that we probably don't know about yet, which will be highly visible to kids.
I think the idea this won't be promoted primarily to kids is wishful thinking from some people. It'll be their big FAMILY holiday movie, it's Disney .. of...
I agree, 90 minutes is about right for this - lets face it, most kids hardly even know the Muppet brand. I think the movie sounds amazing, i'm really looking forward to it. I'm just not so sure it'll do well enough though. Have they done enough to re-introduce (or introduce for the first...
Great idea, yea it's better as their pre-Christmas movie, not a post christmas one. It'll get tons of attention and shows that the footage coming back from the set must be VERY encouraging.
Well they can't have the license for much longer so i think that time really will tell. It was a flawed decision to take on that license from the start. As a Muppet fan, i was glad of it. But if MR replicas couldn't even sell through the $300 budget ones, and the market for these is so small...
Thats exactly what i was thinking.
Times are hard Junebug, get as much as you can. You bought it, it was your investment. Saying that, i'm glad i bought mine long ago lol
It sounds like a money thing. They know Fraggles is going to be a bit of a gamble money wise as it hasn't been around for so long and kids have no clue about them, they can't just bank on the nostalgia with a theatrical movie. Two years back Weinsteins were in a better position financially and...
It's a UK/New Zealand co-production so actually a lot of the accents are kinda New Zealand with the main character and the mum being British. It's the one thing about the show I find a little strange, but i understand why.
Yeah it is that kinda sitcom style I could imagine Henson doing years...
The thing is you don't get anywhere in TV/Media by approaching a project with a "its just a ...." attitude. Even if it's just a small project you do your best and every other aspect of the show lives upto that. They could have done a much better job with Angelo.
I don't really think that...
Hey, yeah that's true, hopefully it was just the format of the interview that meant they didn't mention The Muppets much. I just would have thought it would have been one of his main things to talk about.
:)
Y'know i actually do feel there is concern - not quite as much for the movies content (although it does sound a little too human/walter driven to me but that remains to be seen), more for how the movie is marketed. Because it isn't down to what Segal thinks or wants. There are things Disney...
Strangely, that wasn't actually the case. Shemin on the Muppet Cast said that Chef had never been considered for Muppet Kitchen because they already had past knowledge of him doing serious cooking that he didn't work. So Angelo was an original design.
:o
I disagree, i think it's because they are being put up there as main players. Sure, we always used to have whatnots and background characters who were like this, but even going back to Clifford or early Pepe/Seymour, Clueless Morgan - the ones who Muppet fans embraced more were generally the...
OK maybe detailed was the wrong choice of word, more the rest of the classic muppets have something about their look ... lets call it a trademark Henson look, that means they kinda fit in with the rest of the family.
It has to be said, these new Muppets do look distinctly different from that...
I agree, i get that he is supposed to be "human" but all of these new puppets coming out of the "Heap" are just so bland looking. There's just no detail to them, Muppets are meant to be beautiful detailed classic characters, you put something very plain with them and it sticks out like a sore...
This is a cheeky suggestion, but if there is someone who makes custom stuff wouldn't mind putting some of these together, surely they could use one of this guys collars to make the mold easily. It'd help out a lot of people.
