A great way to judge the size of the eventual puppet is to start with the mouthplate. A good size for an adult hand is 5 inches (that's 5 inches across the point of the mouthplate that bends in the back of the puppet's mouth). Then base the puppet's proportions on the mouthplate. Hope that helps!
