That's how I feel too! They should just get rid of the balloons and call it "The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Musical Numbers!"
And that same marching band rendition of Frank Sinatra's "New York New York" to kick off the start of the parade. I prefer THIS version:
The opening of the parade just said "The cast of Sesame Street." No adding "...and the Muppets!" to cause confusion!
And then there was practically NO MENTION of the balloons, just "World's Greatest Character Balloons." Like I said, the balloons are becoming an incredibly minor side event in...
I did a YouTube Poop of "A Muppet Family Christmas" in memory of Jerry Nelson, too (in addition to that tribute in August.)
You guys are getting a special unlisted preview of it. It's going public this Friday (in honor of Black Friday.)
Makes sense. Though usually that original Pokemon theme song would kind of be more associated with back when we only had 150 Pokemon, like this board game (I had this!)
Believe it or not, they STILL use the 1992-2006 Sesame Street closing theme whenever announcing the Sesame Street float. I guess they had no idea that the credits theme has been replaced since 2007...
I also recall when they have the Pikachu balloon, they use the old 1998 Pokemon theme...
They used it in 2005, 2006 and 2007. And each time, they played the theme song to "What's New Scooby-Doo" underneath. Could this mean the original "Scooby-Dooby-Doo, Where Are You?" theme could be NO MORE in the future?
It's sort of akin to replacing the original Looney Tunes/Merrie...
The sad truth is, Macy's doesn't seem to care much about the balloons anymore, at least the NBC broadcast. When they announce the parade line-up, they just save the balloons for last (but before Santa, of course.)
Muppet-wise, from what I heard, so far it's going to be the Sesame Street Float again, and the Kermit the Frog balloon.
I don't know if they're going to have Kermit himself at the parade though. Even though during the opening (when they play that stock marching band rendition of "New York, New...
I've already got a few plans up my sleeve! I'm going to attend a few Halloween parties this year, plus on Halloween night I'll just pass out candy while in costume, and watch various Halloween cartoons (like "Garfield's Halloween Adventure," or "Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School.") My costume is a...
OK, long story short, I LOVED the street story that debunks the infamous "Veggie Monster" rumors. It seems this episode was written with the fans in mind, and all the others that believed those rumors.
Is it just me, or was Murray Monster practically shouting his lines for the Word on the Street? (which was "Nibble")
The opening sequence is the same one we've been seeing since Season 40. Nothing has been changed on it.
Cookie Monster's voice sounds different for some reason. Even my ear...
Sorry about the long reply...
1. He was running AWAY from the town, heading for another one.
2. The sun was supposed to be setting as it was apparently afternoon at the start of the story.
Felt like sharing this here:
This actually reminds me a lot of the 1985 Golden Book Video adaptation of the same book, complete with identical partial animation effects (except they actually have their lips move now, too) and even the same "Nobody knows the problem we have" song! I also...
Yes, the Magic Mirror was indeed Jerry Nelson. I do kinda remember the mirror weirding me out a bit with his live-action human face.
The "I Beam" never had a menacing voice in it, but it's likely it was added at one time.
Ernie's great counting thing is slowly driving Bert crazy. At the end, Bert just finally snaps, he yells and runs to the table and bangs his head on it several times, then runs toward the camera screaming, then we can hear him run out and slam the door!
I could see a reason why they'd cut that...
One of my favorite things on the Muppet Alphabet Album when I was a kid was the classic "Bert's R Machine" segment. Since it was never made into a sketch on the show, I made up what it would probably have looked like...
(The scene opens in Ernie and Bert’s apartment living room. Bert has some...
Heh, I always thought that would often be cut because they were worried kids would imitate Bert there, because of how he banged his head on the table several times (ala Don Music!) before running into the camera and out the apartment!
