The... -wait fer it-... "What made you laugh today?" Thread

Yes, Jaime is the Spanish equivalent of James and is pronounced as you wrote, however, just because the English version of 'Jaime' is unisex doesn't make it unisex in Spanish, it isn't. It's James in Spanish, that's it. English and Spanish are two very different ball games.

The... -wait fer it-... "What made you laugh today?" Thread

So, I've talked about this before but, in Spanish, Kermit's name is: La Rana René (René is a boy's name in Spanish) but, 'rana' is a word with a feminine ending despite René being a boy's name which explains that Kermit is still a guy in either language. Now, in English, Renée is girl's name...

    Dealing with depression and anxiety

Different relatives who are nice enough to do so...I have a license and car, I just am unable to drive due to the laws in my state regarding things associated with my illness (epilepsy).

    Dealing with depression and anxiety

I blew up at someone I love today because of a misunderstanding; I thought they had called me stupid which hurt because the last person who called me stupid day in and day out was my dad who I no longer speak to. My relative said that I had a tough time remembering things which I took as an...

The New Am I The Only One Thread

Am I the only one who has ever related to a character on a show and then claimed I 'hated them' because their situation was eerily similar to mine? (I related to Todoroki from My Hero Academia but, I'm not sure many peeps on this forum let alone this site like anime :p)

What made you roll your eyes today thread?

So, I write at an online publication and essentially, we're allowed to write about whatever we want. I told my two besties my idea for upcoming an article and while even I'll admit it's a little odd, they didn't outright make fun of me like my other jerk friend did. Let's call him 'Freddy'. I...

The new What Made You Smile Today thread

Well, first I screamed like Nintendo 64 kid in utter joy but, today, I checked the mail and I finally got a shirt I purchased on Etsy along with some extra goodies :) My shirt features Rizzo The Rat almost exactly like the plush I had as a kid (only difference is the Rizzo on my shirt is posed...

    Dealing with depression and anxiety

Family life isn't great just due to some very personal family conflicts I'd rather not discuss but, my mom has been very nice and supportive (again, not gonna question or fight it) and, my health has improved a lot thanks to medicine that actually seems to be helping my epilepsy and, that in...

What made you roll your eyes today thread?

Have you tried calling the university? I graduated early and even my degree took forever and a day to get to me. I called them and then my mom called them and we both kept calling so, I guess we annoyed them enough that they gave in. I have friends who graduated the semester literally after...

What do you know about dreams?

Don't be so hard on yourself, geez. Also, I said that's believed in Guatemalan culture (my culture)...you don't necessarily have to believe something that's another culture's belief.:wisdom:

What made you roll your eyes today thread?

I am a huge fan of the drama/soap opera, Power. My boyfriend is super sweet to let me use his Hulu account when my mom started using it as well because I left it logged in on the Smart TV at my house. Again, my boyfriend is super sweet and like: Babe, it's okay. Let her watch. (Since then, my...

What do you know about dreams?

Well, I'm not sure if this is a dream 'fact' but, at least in Guatemalan culture (can't speak for all Latinos) but, my abuela has told me that it is theorized that, if you see someone in a dream, it means that they're thinking about you. I've always thought that such a perspective is very...

The 'What Song Are You Currently Listening To?' Thread

The Despacito parody called 'El Patito (yes, the one from Sesame Street)'; the original Spanish version of Despacito (not the horrible remix with that ugly Canadian guy on it), is my abuela's jam and well, she loved this parody and I can't stop listening to it since showing her :)

    Dealing with depression and anxiety

Having a lot of trouble focusing today; I'd blame that on the rough start to my morning; I had to go and replace the router at my abuela's place because I go to school online and it died last night and I had to get up waaaaay earlier than normal and even with a nap, I'm still shaky and in a bad...

Video: Matt Vogel premieres as Kermit in Muppet Thought of the Week

The little sigh at the end of this had me like *insert heart eyes* That's Kermit, regardless of who is playing him; I think Matt did a wonderful job and yes, it's not quite Jim and not quite Steve but, it's certainly not bad. I've got mad love for the guy keeping my favorite frog alive.

What made you roll your eyes today thread?

How bad my mom is with her phone, like more than in the realm of me having to be her personal IT person. She labels everyone incorrectly and because she was begging and pleading for me to add music to her iTunes, I hung up a call that she'd told me originally 'unimportant' and, due to the label...

The new What Made You Smile Today thread

My abuelo and abuela ^^ I had to have a medical test done today and, they were determined to make me smile! I realize I'm getting on in my years but, I have had a fear of needles since I was little and, didn't like me frowning at home once all was said and done after the fact so, they took me...

The new What Made You Smile Today thread

We make them the 'easy way'; we also don't call them empanadas (that's the correct spelling, ahem) but, we call them dobladas (fold-overs). But yeah, we buy the Goya brand tortillas and fill with what we see fit (we really only use cheese and Guatemala picado, mix of ground beef and some other...
